Octane is Apex Legends’ first new addition to the roster, arriving alongside the Season 1 Battle Pass dubbed “Wild Frontier”.
Delving into the game’s backstory, Octavio “Octane” Silva blew his legs off in a record-breaking gauntlet speedrun and now finds himself in the Apex Legends battlefield with metal legs and a thirst for coming out on top.
As his name suggests, Octane is all about movement speed. His abilities allow him to move faster than any other Legend on the roster and he can deploy a Launch Pad which can catapult his entire team into the air.

Passive Ability – Swift Mend
Octane’s passive ability means he’ll restore health over time when not taking damage. Not only is this incredibly useful, but it also ties heavily into his other abilities.
There isn’t too much tactical play surrounding this passive. It’s just a case of staying out of trouble when you’ve been hit by a few bullets to ensure you start topping your health back up.
Tactical Ability – Stim
Activate this ability and it allows Octane to move 30% faster for 6 seconds, however, it costs health to use. It also provides a reduction to slows while active, so you won’t be hamstrung quite so hard by movement speed debuffs.
We’d highly recommend popping this ability when you’re caught in a hairy situation and you need to get out of there – fast. Alternatively, you can use this ability to close the gap if you spot an opportunity to take a group of enemies by surprise.
Just be aware that using this ability slowly drains your health, so try your best to use it in short concentrated bursts to avoid hemorrhaging your health bar too heavily.
Ultimate Ability – Launch Pad
Trigger Octane’s ultimate ability and he’ll throw down a jump pad that catapults users through the air.
This ability makes for a great repositioning tool if you want to get the drop on a squad or bounce out of a sticky situation.
It’s also a great way of gaining the height advantage over your enemies, or zooming up to a rappel point so you can zip to a new spot on the map. Don’t be afraid to get creative with it!
