Apex Legends Preseason invitational announced, with a $105,000 prize for the winner
It's still gunning to become a fully fledged esport.
Apex Legends, the free-to-play Battle Royale that has aimed to challenge Fortnite’s stranglehold on the genre, has been hosting Preseason tournaments over the last couple of months. The Preseason Invitational is the final stop on this tour, with a prize pool of $500,000. A total of 80 teams will be invited, and applications are still open.
The Preseason has been host to a fair few events, including the EXP Pro-Am and the upcoming X Games in Minneapolis. On September 13th-15th, it’ll all come to a head, with the best squads in the world travelling to Krakow, Poland and battling it out for the big prize pool.
The teams will be placed into one of four groups based on their Ranked score on the Apex Legends servers, and based on their performance, they may advance to final, move to the Losers’ side of the bracket or eventually exit the tournament altogether.

The 20 teams who scored the highest in previous rounds will make it to the final. The team who performs best over several individual games will claim the $105,000 grand prize. Every team in the top 20 will collect prize money, going all the way down to $4,800 for 20th, about enough to cover travel, entry fees and lodging expenses for the trip to Krakow.
