Every currently known method of obtaining a key for the November beta.
The Artifact beta is scheduled to launched at the end of November, and in order to take part in it ahead of the official release you’ll need a beta key.
A handful of options are available for those of you who want an early look at the game, and in this article we’re outlining all of the known methods you have at your disposal.
Before we move onto the currently known methods for obtaining an Artifact beta key, it’s well worth pointing out a few things that might seem obvious but are always worth repeating:
– You buy beta keys online with obvious risk. While established marketplaces are likely to be more reliable, there are no guarantees you won’t get scammed regardless. We certainly don’t recommend you give your payment details to a random third party offering keys for sale.
– Check the email addresses you use very carefully when it comes to updates about beta keys. As with the Hearthstone beta back in 2013, scams were rife and almost certainly will be again for the Artifact beta. Check email headers carefully and ensure they’ve been sent from a legitimate source before acting on them.
With that out of the way, here are all of the currently known methods for obtaining a key for the Artifact October beta:

UPDATE – Sunday 18th November
We’re highlighting some standout social media giveaways here, but in general your best option is to search Twitter for “Artifact” – perhaps including beta key – and see if any giveaways are taking place.
Edit – looks like Amaz also has beta keys to give away:
For my Artifact friends: lemme know your fav. color and why, and I’ll choose 2 winners for the beta keys on Monday =D

Looks as though one streamer – Kripparian – is planning to give out some beta keys. Might be worth keeping an eye on the stream:
Artifact: PAX West / TI8 Beta Keys
If you attended PAX West at the end of August and visited the Artifact stand, you’ll have received a pair of scratchcards, each of which contains a beta key. Similarly, attendees of Dota 2’s TI8 also received a beta key for taking part in the event.
If you picked one up, you can apply the key to your Steam account (see further down the page for details). If a friend of yours picked one up, you can ask them nicely for their spare!
Searches on Reddit and the official Artifact site reveal a number of players giving away their spare keys, but on this front we must repeat our advice about not paying strangers for access. You do so at your own risk.

Artifact: Social Media Beta Keys
The official Artifact Twitter account has indicated that following the account may result in you being granted access to the beta.
The exact details are not entirely clear, but it’s certainly the easiest option you have right now.
Pro Tip: You need to follow @PlayArtifact for a chance to get modified. Twitter won’t let us DM to people who aren’t followers.

How do I apply an Artifact beta key?
In order to actually take part in the beta, you’re first of all going to need to install Steam to your desktop device. Mobile support for the game is coming to iOS and Android devices in the middle of next year, so those options aren’t available right now.
Once you’ve installed Steam and set up your account – or assuming you already have one – just follow these steps:
- Click the Games tab at the top of the main Steam interface
- Select “Activate a Product on Steam”
- Follow the instructions and copy in your Artifact beta key when prompted
If you now search your complete Games List you’ll see Artifact somewhere near the very top.
Note that you won’t actually be able to download the client until the beta begins. The exact date for the October beta has not yet been confirmed, but expect some news on that front in the very near future.
As more methods for obtaining an Artifact beta key become available, we’ll update this guide.
