Blizzard apologises for recent HCT Tournament issues – Hearthstone
Vows to learn from the issues and improve for the next official tournament.
Blizzard has issued an apology for the infrastructure issues that plagued this weekend’s HCT Americas Summer Playoffs.
During the event, the venue was subject to a series of Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, which forced certain players to restart their matches, and added delays between matches. The tournament was also affected by a series of equipment malfunctions.
“While we made efforts to address the issues as they were occurring, we want to be clear that the resulting experience this past weekend was not acceptable,” said Aratil, community mananager for Hearthstone in a post on the official forums.

“We sincerely apologize to the competitors who were adversely affected. There is still much we can do to improve the overall competitive experience, and to reduce the number of issues that can occur.”
To prevent these sorts of issues from happening in the future, Hearthstone’s publisher intends to review equipment and venue requirements, and hopes to have improvements in place in time for the next official tournament.
