Blizzard currency changes being rolled out today
Players in Canada, Japan and New Zealand will now be billed for purchases in their local currency
The regional currency changes announced by Blizzard in mid-October will go live within the next 24 hours. The news was confirmed in an update on the publisher’s website yesterday evening.
The changes mean that players in Canada, Japan and New Zealand will soon be able to make purchases using their local currencies, rather than US Dollars as has been the case up until now.
Blizzard claims the changes will benefit players by making it easier for them to make payments without incurring transaction fees.
Many in the community, however, have expressed concerns that the move increases the cost of Blizzard purchases in those regions, and argue the change is being made with Blizzard‘s finances firmly in mind.
If you live in one of the affected countries then you can expect these currency changes to go live shortly. If you’ve been affected by this update, we’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.
