Call of Duty: Warzone – Best Assault Rifle
We’ve picked out the overall two best Assault Rifles in the game. Of course, for more information on all the best guns, check out our Modern Warfare gun tier list. Here’s the best of the best though.
M4A1
The M4A1 has been top dog for a while now. Since the game’s release its perfect balance of accuracy, range, and damage led to it being an early favourite. Even after its nerfs, the M4A1 still sits top of the pile for many players.
The M4A1’s damage-per-second and time-to-kill are faster than the Grau in both Multiplayer and Warzone, helped by its faster fire rate making it slightly more forgiving as a choice.
We’ve listed below our favourite all-rounder attachments for the M4A1 if you fancy picking it up:
- Muzzle – Monolithic Suppressor
- Barrel – FSS 14.5″ Tac Lite
- Underbarrel – Commando Foregrip
- Rear Grip – Stippled Grip Tape
- Optic – Integral Hybrid
Of course, this is far from the only loadout option you can go for. The M4A1 has all manner of uses, and in Warzone we often like to switch the Commando Foregrip out for 60 Round Mags, since more shots are needed to kill in that mode.
Grau 5.56
Season 3’s Grau 5.56 surprised players with its actual ability to rival the M4A1. While it doesn’t kill quite as fast, it is a more mobile weapon at its base level. Both aim-down-sights time and movement speed are faster with the Grau, making it stronger in many close-quarters situations.
Also, the Grau has longer range than the M4A1, meaning in Warzone at longer ranges, the Grau’s time-to-kill creeps above the M4A1 despite its faster rate of fire.
The Grau’s longer-ranged barrel attachments help this even further, sacrificing a bit of its ADS time in favour of range values to rival LMGs. Basically, if you’re looking to use a gun that keeps its power over long ranges, the Grau is for you. Here’s our favourite attachment combo to run when playing Warzone:
- Muzzle – Monolithic Suppressor
- Barrel – Tempus 26.4″ Archangel
- Underbarrel – Commando Foregrip
- Ammunition – 60 Round Mags
- Optic – Your preferred Reflex/Red Dot Sight
Try out your own combinations for this gun too! If you’re less concerned about damage range and are going for a more snappy, speedy version, you’re always going to be able to whack on the XRK Void II Rear Grip and Tac Laser, as well as getting rid of your heavier attachments. The beauty of the Grau 5.56 is its versatility, and particularly in Multiplayer you’ll be free to kit it out however you wish.
