Destiny 2: Black Armory guide – Exotics, Raid, Activities and Release Date
Everything we know so far about the new expansion.
Our Destiny 2 Black Armory guide contains everything we know so far about the new exotic weapons, raid, activities, annual pass content and release date.
Destiny 2’s latest expansion “Black Armory” is just on the horizon and it promises a slew of new exotic weapons to hunt, new activities and an exciting new raid to beat. Unlike the largely disappointing Curse of Osiris and Warmind expansions of old, Bungie’s turned its focus to pleasing the hobbyists, instead of delivering a subpar story experience – and we’re really looking forward to it.
Black Armory centers around a mysterious Exo called Ada-1, who sends you on a mission to track down some of the most powerful weapons which were lost in the Golden Age. In your attempts to obtain these weapons from special Lost Forges, you’ll be thrust into newly matchmade horde modes which’ll task you with surviving an onslaught of increasingly powerful enemies. Prove your mettle and you’ll bag some of the juiciest guns in the game.
Of course, there’s a whole host of extra content on top of this too. Let’s not forget a brand new raid for players to tackle, mods to equip, a new power level cap and more.
To help you get to grips with all the new content that’s coming with Black Armory, we’ve put together a guide below that’ll take you through it all. As more information is released, we’ll update this section even further – stay tuned!
Black Armory: Teasers and Gameplay
Bungie has released gameplay footage which showcases a handful of Black Armory’s exotic weapons in action:
You’ll need to visit forges in Black Armory if you want a chance at crafting all the new weapons and armour. They’ll place you in a matchmade horde mode where you’ll face off against increasingly difficult enemies, some of which will drop dark orbs on the ground. Pick these up and lob them into the forge and you’ll kickstart the forging process.
Many Youtubers were invited to play some of the content and showcase some pre-recorded gameplay of the forging prcoess in action. You’ll also get a look at some of the new exotics available too, so it’s well worth a watch.
Black Armory: Release date
Black Armory launches on Tuesday, 4th December on all platforms.
There’s often a pre-load window for new expansions which begins a day or two before at around 8:00AM OST (that’s 4:00PM BST and 11:00AM ET), so expect an announcement nearer the time.
Black Armory: Quick Overview
First things first, Black Armory is Bungie’s first swing at a DLC that’ll provide a steady stream of content over the next few months. New forges, activities and the raid will all launch over the next couple of months. We’ve linked an image of the schedule below:
So without further ado, here’s a quick breakdown of all the new content dropping with the next expansion:
There are three Forges, each stemming from Norse, Japanese and French family lines.
- Volundr Forge
- Gofannon Forge
- Izanami Forge
One exotic from each forge has been revealed so far, and you can take a look at them just below.
You’ll earn these exotic weapons by gathering components and facing off against hordes of enemies at special forges. It’s likely there will be many more exotic weapons to come, as well as a few only unlockable through secret methods.
While the new raid is unlikely to be as expansive as the last, it’s still incredibly exciting.
The new Raid is called the Scourge of the Past and it’s based in the abandoned area of the Last City. We’re told to expect a throwback to Destiny 1’s Wrath of Machine style combat, with high octane action on the cards.
Not much else is known currently, but we’ll be sure to update this section thoroughly when more information swings our way.
Here’s a list of all the other improvements and tweaks Bungie has in store for us:
- The Machine Gun archetype returns.
- Expect new mods and we’ll be able to choose between certain perks as well.
- Expect new Legendary weapons and armour pieces.
