Destiny 2: Clan guide – Guided Games, Oathkeeper Scores and more!

0

Everything you need to know about clans and Guided Games in Destiny 2.

Our Destiny 2: Clan guide explains how Clans, Guided Games and Oathkeeper Scores work in the live game.

One of the new features that was announced at the first Destiny 2 reveal event was an official Clan system for the game. This allows players to clump together into permanent groups, making it easier to team up and tackle content with friends. For those who’d rather only occasionally dabble in group content though, Bungie’s got a solution for you as well in the form of Guided Games.

We wanted to bring you all the information about this feature in one place, and with the release of Nightfall Strikes and the Leviathan raid, we’ve also got a little more insight on how the Guided Games process works for these trickier challenges.

(If you want to be the best at every area of the game, don’t forget to bookmark our PVP, Campaign walkthrough and Subclass guide pages – they’ve got everything you need if you want to get more out of Destiny 2, and will be continuously updated in the weeks ahead.)

Editor’s UPDATE #4: We’ve added in a small section on this season’s clan perks and staves. You’ll find this all in the corresponding sections below. We’ll update this guide with more info as it comes our way, so stay tuned for the latest.

How does the new Clan system work?

  • Clans are optional teams that you can join which make it easier to find people to group up with.
  • The official Clan system provides in-game rosters, tools to help you build Fireteams, and even custom banners to provide you and your friends fight under a shared identity.
  • There’s a reward system associated with Clan membership. Every activity you participate in will earn EXP towards unlocking rewards for your entire Clan.
  • If you don’t want to be a permanent member of a Clan but do want to tackle group activities from time to time, there’s a feature called Guided Games.

Clan banners

Your clan banner acts as a separate levelling system that corresponds directly to your clan. The more activities your clan completes, the more your banner will level up. Levelling up your clan banner unlocks new perks with each season.

Many of them are focused on increasing your odds of getting rewards from events such as Raids, Strikes, Trials and more.

Season 1 Perks

Here are all the clan perks you’ll be able to earn throughout Destiny 2’s first season.

  • Level 1. Spread the Wealth – Gain additional Glimmer when looting engrams.
  • Level 2. Public Service – Increases public event rewards.
  • Level 3. Scavenger: Cabal – Improves rewards from eliminating Cabal enemies.
  • Level 4. Venture Capital – Increases the chance of receiving reputation tokens when completing Nightfalls, Raids, and Trials.
  • Level 5. Strength in Numbers – Increases chance of receiving an engram when completing playlist activities with a clan member.

Clan Staves

With every season, clans can earn a special stave to show off the fact they reached the max clan level in a specific season.

Here’s a look at the season 1’s clan stave reward.

How do Guided Games work?

  • Guided Games is a system that lets grouped players and solo players come together.
  • Players looking for a team get to see which Clans are hosting guests, and learn a little about the team before joining.
  • It requires no commitment, yet allows anyone to potentially tackle any content in the game.
  • Guided Games is a matchmaking feature exclusively for normal-tier Raids and activities.
  • End-game content like Heroic difficulty Raids and Nightfall Strikes will still require players to have their own groups to play with. Guided Games will not be an option for these max-level activities.

How does the Oathkeeper Score system work?

The Oathkeeper Score is a system that highlights Clans who successfully complete the activity in question. In order to get credit for a solid Guided Game, it must be either finished successfully, last at least as long as the minimum activity window that’s given in-game, or everyone has agreed to wrap things up. You do this by bringing up the Ghost UI and initiating a vote which all members must agree to for a penalty-free disbandment to occur.

Note that all Clans begin with an Oathkeeper Score of zero, and it won’t start inching up until four Guided Games have been completed. If you’re searching for a Guided Game, you might want to focus on Clans with an established score.

If, as a Guided Game seeker, you come across a Clan with an offensive name, mission statement or motto, you should file a report against them – your position in the queue will be held while you write the report. Likewise if a team behaves offensively to you while in the system, you should report them.
