Destiny 2's universe is set to expand even more.
Destiny 2 may only just have launched on the PC but that hasn’t stopped dataminers from uncovering a huge amount of new information which could well be related to future content updates for the game.
Redditor TheEcumene has datamined Destiny 2’s PC version, reportedly trawling through 26,000 audio files to bring the community a potential snapshot of what’s expect to come with December’s Curse of Osiris expansion and beyond.
In short, it looks like we can expect to see new worlds and a 4th subclass, as well as the return of certain characters and Sparrow-racing. We’ve broken down all the new details for you down below.
What do these voice lines reveal?
- We may be travelling to two new worlds: Ganymede and The Myriad.
- We could be returning to Phobos and Mercury, with Phobos potentially becoming a new Patrol zone.
- Shiro is on Mercury and Osiris could be coming to the Tower again.
- Most – if not all – of Destiny 1’s seasonal events will return. Crimson Days, Festival of the Lost, Sparrow Racing League and more are coming back.
- The Reef and Prison of Elders are mentioned briefly.
- Characters Petra and Variks are also talked about. This may indicate that we’re going back to the Reef.
- The Black Garden and the Vault of Glass Raid are mentioned, indicating another trip back in time.
- Lord Saladin talks about his distrust of Warmind Rasputin and Osiris.
One voiceline from Ikora Rey is also starting to attract a lot of attention from the community as the next DLC draws ever closer. It’s a line that’s actually been in the game since launch, but only now are Guardians beginning to get a little excited.
Here’s what Ikora has to say, “What if there was a fourth energy? Void, Solar, Arc and what? I sometimes tire of all these threes.”
While Ikora’s line could just be Bungie joking around, there’s a strong possibility that this is a refernce for a fourth subclass using a new form of damage.
TheEcumene’s linked all of the datamined files in his post over on Reddit if you fancy sitting through hours of dialogue and listening out for any other hints. Otherwise the section above should highlight most of the main talking points.
It’s also worth stating that all of this information may simply refer to scrapped content that went unremoved from the client data files. That’s a lot of unnecessary leftovers though, and so we’re confident that at least some of this content will make it into a future update.
