Destiny 2’s first Christmas event is underway and with it comes a slew of brand new Christmas themed cosmetics to unlock. Ships, Sparrows, emotes and three new incredible looking armour sets are up for grabs – along with a whole bunch more.
Bungie’s showered us in festive loot and below you’ll find a handy section breaking down all the brand new Dawning cosmetics once we’ve had a chance to gather up all the information ourselves.
What’s more, there are a bunch of different ways you’re able to get hold of these items. You don’t have to spend real world money in order to get your hands on all this limited edition loot and we’ve also put together a guide on the various methods available to you.

The Dawning 2017: Every Cosmetic Item
As the Dawning’s just launched, we’re still in the process of getting together all the cosmetic items you’ll be able to obtain. For now, this video gives us our first glimpse at most of/if not all of new Dawning themed emotes, ships and Sparrows!

The Dawning 2017: Milestones and Gifting
Dawning Engram
During the Dawning you’ll have an extra Milestone to complete which will reward you with a Dawning Engram.
- Go to Ikora Rey at the Tower and speak with her – this will activate your Dawning Milestone.
- For our first Dawning Milestone, we were tasked with competing in the Mayhem PVP playlist.
- Do this until you’re notified it’s complete and the Dawning Engram will pop straight into your inventory. The Milestone tab will then inform you of the next task you have to complete in order to receive your next Dawning Engram.
- These tasks are on a rotation, so you’ll be required to participate in all sorts of activities throughout the Dawning in order to earn these festive Engrams.
Dawning Boons
If you’re feeling particularly festive, you an actually obtain Boons of the Dawning which will mean others receive a guaranteed gift at the end of an activity.
- You can obtain Boons of the Dawning by participating in the Mayhem PVP or Strike playlists.
- They will drop randomly after you complete these activities.
- Use the boon during one of these activities and it’ll grant all players in your fireteam a Dawning themed gift after a Strike or Crucible match.
Dawning Gift Schematics
Here’s how the gifting process works.
- Head on over to Ikora Rey at the Tower.
- Right next to her is a Christmas tree with a number of presents too.
- Interact with it and you’ll receive a “Dawning’s Gift Schematic”.
- You can only pick up one Gift Schematic per day.
- Each day, the Gift Schematic relates to a different NPC. In our case, we’re tasked with giving Cayde some festive cheer.
- Each Gift Schematic gives you two objectives. For example: “Defeat Hive Wizards for pieces of their brittle capes” and “Collect Dusklight from the EDZ to craft a perfect replica”.
- Gather the required ingredients, use them and it’ll activate the present. Then head on over to the selected NPC and they’ll give you a treat in return!
