First Overwatch League 2019 matches kick off this evening
Who's playing who and when in the opening day of Overwatch League 2019.
The very first matches of the Overwatch League 2019 season are due to begin later on this evening.
The first day’s play will see eight of the world’s best teams firing their opening shots for dominance of the League’s second year.
The first of these matches will feature London Spitfire going up against Philadelphia Fusion at 4:00pm PST. That’s midnight over here in the UK, and 1:00am if you’re watching in mainland Europe.
There’ll be four matches in total on day one, all of which will be broadcast on the official Overwatch League Twitch channel. Here’s a stream embed if you want to jump straight in once the first matches are live.
Here’s how the schedule looks for all four matches:
- 4:00pm PT – Philadelphia Fusion v London Spitfire
- 5:30pm PT – New York Excelsior v Boston Uprising
- 7:00pm PT – Seoul Dynasty v Los Angeles Gladiators
- 8:30pm PT – Shanghai Dragons v Hangzhou Spark
That last match in particular should prove to be a spicy affair if you’re up late enough to enjoy it on this side of the pond.
Shanghai Dragons had an infamously poor run of form during the League’s first year, and the pressure will be on newcomers Hangzhou Spark to beat the perennial underdogs.
There’s a good deal more Overwatch League action over the weekend, with eight matches taking place throughout Friday 15th February, four more on Saturday, and then a final match between Seoul Dynasty and Dallas Fuel on Sunday.
After that it’s a rest for all concerned, before the action picks up again next Thursday. Have a look though our Overwatch League 2019 guide for a full breakdown of the teams involved, match scheduling, and the results as they come in.
