Everything you need to know about the Compact SMG.
Our Fortnite Compact SMG guide contains weapon stats, rarity details, how to use it and information on finding the new weapon.
Fortnite’s obssession with submachine guns continues, with the new Compact SMG being introduced with the V.5.10 patch.
It’s modelled on the P90 SMG that’s featured in almost every shooter we’ve played, meaning it’ll spray bullets at lightning speed and you won’t run out of bullets for a long time. Despite being the ultimate spray and pray machine, it lacks some punch.
In this article we’ve gathered together everything you need to know about this weapon, from its base stats to how it feels when you’ve got it in hand, plus advice on how to bag one for yourself.

What rarities is the Compact SMG available in?
The new Compact SMG is available in two different rarities: Epic and Legendary.
Damage starts off at 23 for the lowest rarity and goes up to 24 for the Legendary variant.
These stats may not seem great, but the Compact SMG spews bullets at a frantic pace so it all stacks up when you’re peppering a target at close range.
Any other stats for the Compact SMG?
The Compact SMG holds 50 rounds in total, which is definitely one of the largest of the bunch. Do be aware that just because it’s got a large magazine, doesn’t mean that you’ll be able to rattle off bullets indefinitely. With a faster fire rate than most others SMGs you’ll run out pretty sharpish.
With all this in mind, we’re still not sure if it’s a better alternative to the Drum Gun.
Where can I find the Compact SMG?
You’ll find the Compact SMG on the ground and in chests, Supply Drops and Vending Machines.
Of course, you can always eliminate others for it too, if that’s how you roll.
Any Compact SMG tips?
This submachine guns fire rate is incredibly fast, so you’ll need to keep an eye on the ammo count when facing off against the enemy. Miss your shots and you could begin the reload animation at the worst possible moment, leaving you particularly vulnerable.
With an SMG like this, there definitely isn’t always a need to zoom in on enemies for that extra bump in accuracy. If you’re near enough, just hip-fire at them!
We wouldn’t recommend the Compact SMG as a main weapon. View it as a brilliant short range killer, but one that lacks any power at mid to long ranges. Always have an Assault Rifle or Sniper in your primary slot for much needed versatility.
