Our Fortnite Week 8 Challenges guide contains a list of all the challenges in Week 8 of Season 5, with tips, tricks and strategy advice for completing each one and earning your Battle Star rewards.
We’re approaching the final leg of Fortnite Season 5, but we’ve still got the usual array of challenges to complete before some major changes inevitably hit the map. If you’re familiar with the game’s weekly challenge system, then Week 8’s tasks won’t come as much of a surprise. It’s the classic mix of searching for a hidden item, scoring eliminations in a certain location and cracking open chests too.
For those of you who haven’t purchased a Battle Pass, you’ll need to place Traps around the map, search for glowing, golden chests in Wailing Woods and eliminate a number of opponents with a Shotgun.
If you’ve forked out the cash to buy the Battle Pass, then you’ll have all the Free tasks, as well as four extra challenges to increase your Battle Star haul. You’ll need to take out players with a Pickaxe, use Rifts, search between three oversized seats and take out enemies in Greasy Grove – phew.

FREE

PREMIUM

Those are all of the challenges available in Week 8 of Fortnite Season 5, then, but how do you complete them all? Good question, and in the rest of this article we’ll go through each task one by one.
Place Traps
To get this challenge completed, you’ll simply need to place 25 Traps in total. There’s no rush, so whenever you pick them up, make sure you go ahead and place them on structures to begin chipping away at the total.
Search Chests in Wailing Woods
You’ll need to loot a total of 7 chests in Wailing Woods for this challenge and the best advice we can offer you here is to land as quickly as possible. When you’ve touched ground, make sure you sprint as fast as you can around the area and get to those chests before anyone else does.
Shotgun Eliminations
Getting this task ticked off requires 4 shotgun eliminations in total. There’s nothing for it but to keep an eye out for a shotgun, and when you’ve got one to hand, make sure you’re looking for close range gunfights.
Do remember that you don’t necessarily need to use a shotgun as your primary weapon of choice if you’re playing with friends in duos or squads. Down an enemy from afar? Switch to the shotgun and finish them off with it instead.
Deal damage with a Pickaxe to opponents
This is definitely one of the toughest challenges on the list! To complete it, you’ll need to deal a total of 250 damage to opponents by smacking them with your trusty harvesting tool.
There are two ways you can go about this and it’s safe to say that both methods will take some serious time.
One way to wrack up Pickaxe damage is to land near an opponent as soon as you’ve dropped from the Battle Bus. Chase them down no matter what and try your best to land as many hits as you can with the Pickaxe. Usually they’ll run off and try find loot, but commit to swinging away and you’ll almost certainly get some damage in. Sometimes they’ll even engage you in a Pickaxe battle, ie. the best scenario you could wish for.
While this isn’t quite as reliable, you can start accruing Pickaxe damage on downed enemies in duo or squad games. Simply finish enemies off with your harvesting tool and you’ll at least get some damage in!
Use a Rift at different Rift spawn locations
For this challenge you’ll need to seek out 10 different Rifts across the map, so make sure you check out our All Rift Portal Locations guide as it contains a map with all their likely hotspots.
Search between three oversized seats
As per usual, Youtuber niitq has us covered when it comes to searching for hidden items across Fortnite’s map.

Eliminate an opponent in Greasy Grove
This final challenge is pretty self explanatory. All you’ll have to do is take out an opponent while in Greasy Grove.
It’s a case of landing as quickly as you can, getting to the loot as fast as possible, and getting on the offensive before anyone has a chance to gear up themselves.
Do bear in mind that many players will be darting around Greasy Grove once these challenges go live, so either get stuck in or potentially wait it out if you’re finding things a bit too chaotic.
