Fortnite’s latest hotfix has reduced your chance of using the controversial B.R.U.T.E mech
Et tu, B.R.U.T.E?
Epic Games has put some balance changes into place with its latest Fortnite hotfix, and the B.R.U.T.E has been hit once again. Its spawn rate in Storm phases 3-6 has been reduced in core modes, but not in the arena mode.
Given the professional scene’s outcry at the mech’s power level, leaving the competitive mode untouched is a strange decision, but Epic Games will hope that given previous nerfs to the B.R.U.T.E, balance can be achieved without too many drastic changes.
All the specifics of the B.R.U.T.E spawn rate be found in the blog post update from Epic Games, including the complete removal of mech spawns in Storm phase 6.

Other changes were introduced too, including the vaulting of the Combat Shotgun, Drum Shotgun, and Proximity Launcher. The Suppressed Assault Rifle is back though, and the Automatic Sniper has had its damage output increased significantly to bring it more in line with other sniper rifles. The Legendary version of the Automatic Sniper now deals 44 damage per shot, rather than the previous 35.
Retail Row has been tweaked as well. The developers considered the area too strong given the huge potential for rare loot drops from Obelisks. The maximum number of Obelisks has therefore been toned down, and their respawn time increased to a maximum of 30 seconds (from 5 seconds). High-value loot drops have been reduced too.
The changes are live now, so you can play the game and see how they feel. As a final treat, Fortnite has also brought back the Fourth Down cosmetics set to coincide with the opening of the 2019 NFL season.
