Here's how to play Galakrond Deathrattle Rogue in the Descent of Dragons meta.

Our Galakrond Deathrattle Rogue deck list guide features the best list for Season 69 of Hearthstone (December 2019). You can also find some general strategy advice and a breakdown of the deck’s key combos. We will continue to update so our Galakrond Deathrattle Rogue deck list is the best it can be.

Galakrond, the Nightmare is the Rogue version of Galakrond. Invoking him gives you a Lackey, and his Battlecry draws a card and reduces its cost to 0. Invoking Galakrond is great for generating value throughout the game, and the Battlecry is upgraded to a maximum of 4 cards drawn.

This version of the deck leans on Deathrattle synergies to secure the win, with Galakrond, the Nightmare and Galakrond’s Guile helping you get to that goal.

This version of Galakrond in Rogue has turned out to be pretty solid, taking advantage of the card draw and associated tempo to put a bunch of stats out onto the board.

General strategy

You’re looking to activate your Deathrattles and generate tempo early, whilst using Galakrond, the Nightmare as a powerful finisher. Here’s our general strategy on piloting this deck.

If you can get a few minions on the board and Invoke Galakrond, the Nightmare a couple times, it’s well worth doing. You’ll get a bit of value in hand with Lackeys, and potentially out-tempo your enemy on the board.

Early Game: Pharaoh Cat and Bloodsail Flybooter can help you contest the board early on in the game, but never mulligan away Necrium Apothecary. Ideally, you’ll be able to get a few Lackeys in hand through Invokes and EVIL Miscreant, offering you flexibility and the chance to gain an advantage through smart use of Lackey Battlecries.

After this, you’ll want to equip your Necrium Blade. If you have Necrium Apothecary, remember to play a card the turn before to activate its Combo effect and draw your card. Bloodsail Flybooter is a good choice for getting a constant board threat, as well as generating cheap cards to activate Combos with.

Mid Game: You’ll be trying to flood the board with big minions before your opponent can do anything about it. Edwin VanCleef is a good method if you haven’t already played him, Break your Necrium Blade to activate Necrium Apothecary‘s Deathrattle multiple times, and use Faceless Corruptor on your Lackeys and small minions to clear enemy threats and Taunts.

If you can, get Galakrond fully invoked too. Generating a Lackey is decent compensation for playing a card like Praise Galakrond!, and the +1 attack gained can help you trade more effectively or push that little bit of face damage. Seal Fate is slightly tougher to play but dealing 3 damage for 3 mana is pretty solid, and your Lackeys can give you more valuable spells and minions if you’re lucky.

Heistbaron Togwaggle, when played alongside a Lackey, gives you a delightful choice of Treasures to pick up. They’ll all come in handy in different situations, so if you need a hand refill Wondrous Wand might be best, whereas Zarog’s Crown is great if you’re trying to pressurise the opponent.

Late Game: Galakrond, the Nightmare should hopefully be fully invoked by this point. Drawing 4 cards that all cost 0 is insanely valuable, especially if they’re high-impact plays like Kronx Dragonhoof or Heistbaron Togwaggle. You can overwhelm your opponent with this finale if you’re lucky and still in need of that finisher, and if not then hopefully your 2 mana Hero Power to generate a random Lackey can be enough to find that last little bit of damage.

Galakrond Deathrattle Rogue Mulligan Guide

Below is our guide on what to keep in your opening hand when playing Galakrond Deathrattle Rogue.

1. Bloodsail Flybooter is a 1 mana 1/1 that gives you another two 1 mana 1/1s. You can activate combos and buff your Edwin VanCleef and Questing Adventurer with these cheap boys, so keeping this card is well worth it.

2. Necrium Apothecary, if you can activate the card’s Combo early, can generate a ridiculous amount of early tempo and is well worth playing out as soon as you can, especially if you start with The Coin.

3. Backstab and Shadowstep can help you gain early tempo in multiple ways, activating Combos and buffing minions, as well as Shadowstep being able to duplicate the effects of your Bloodsail Flybooter and EVIL Miscreant.

Galakrond Deathrattle Rogue tips, combos and synergies

Below are some tips for how to best play Galakrond Rogue in the Descent of Dragons meta:

Kronx Dragonhoof is best used after playing Galakrond, the Nightmare, but if you’re really desperate for a big play next turn then you might as well play him before you lose.

Wisp makes it into this deck as a potential combo activator, as you can play it for 0 mana on turn 3 or 4 and make EVIL Miscreant or Necrium Apothecary‘s effects take hold.

Edwin VanCleef is buffed by every card played before him on your turn, so you might want to save up your cheap cards like Backstab and Shadowstep to take full advantage of this.

Galakrond, the Nightmare can draw up to 4 cards with its Battlecry and reduce them all to 0 mana. It’s best used when you’ve shuffled a bunch of copies of powerful minions into your deck, such as Kronx Dragonhoof or Heistbaron Togwaggle.

– Remember, Seal Fate can only be used on a character with full health. This does mean it can hit face, but only if your opponent is undamaged, and it’s usually best used to clear enemy minions.

Necrium Apothecary has only one type of minion to draw – Mechanical Whelp. If you’re unfortunate enough to draw both copies of this card, your Necrium Apothecary‘s Battlecry won’t trigger.

Galakrond’s Guile is the Hero Power for the Rogue version of the card. It adds a Lackey to your hand for 2 mana, but is also triggered by Invoke cards for no extra cost.

Kronx Dragonhoof has four potential Devastations. Decimation deals 5 to the enemy Hero and heals yours by 5. Reanimation summons an 8/8 Dragon with Taunt. Domination gives all your other minions +2/+2. Annihilation deals 5 to all enemy minions. Depending on your game’s state, you’ll want to choose carefully – sometimes you just want to end it all, whereas on other occasions you need to clear the board of enemy threats.
