The world could always use more heroes.
geeksplatform’s come a long way over the last couple of years. Back at the beginning of 2015 we launched the site as a Hearthstone-focused passion project of mine, and while I was still working full-time on Eurogamer. With Overwatch finding similar success in 2016, I was finally able to start working on geeksplatform full-time, and just how far we could take things.
Well, it’s been another great year, and to help us take geeksplatform to even greater heights, we’re now looking to hire a full-time Staff Writer to join the editorial team, based here at Gamer Network’s offices in Brighton. It’s a great opportunity for an entry level writer to come and work at one of the most respected organisations in the business, and make a major contribution towards the success of one of the company’s fastest growing websites.
If you’re successful in applying for the role, you’ll spend around half your time writing sparkling news, guide and feature content for Overwatch. The other half will be spent immersing yourself in new games and laying the foundations for new channels on the site. (On a related note we’re also planning to give geeksplatform a significant makeover in the near future, to accommodate our growing coverage.)
You can find the full job spec over at our recruitment page for the role, but there are a few important things to be aware of before you apply:
- This is a full-time position based in our offices in Brighton, UK. Remote working options are not available, so we won’t be able to consider your application if location is an issue.
- The Staff Writer role will be an extremely busy one, and requires a writer capable of producing clear and concise copy very quickly, and without the need for an editor’s final polish.
- You must be able to demonstrate a portfolio of published work, ideally within the competitive gaming space.
If you’ve read carefully through the job description, you have a love of all things Overwatch (and competitive gaming in general) and you think you’d fit the bill, then we’d love to hear from you. Please make sure you make your application directly through the Staff Writer page.
