Hearthstone deck guide: the best cheap Rogue deck – July 2015 – Hearthstone

0

How to get a lot more from Rogue for a little bit of dust.

If you’ve played any of the other decks featured in our round-up of the best free Hearthstone decks, you’ll probably have found yourself eventually hitting a ceiling where your skill and deck power are no longer in alignment with one another.

Never mind. It’s for this reason that we’re in the process of putting together a list of those decks which will help you get much higher with just a little bit of investment of your hard-earned crafting dust. Get these decks under your belt, and you’ll be well on your way to taking your game further.

Today it’s the turn of the Rogue Hero to get something a little feistier for the ladder. Let us know how you get on with this deck in the comments below – you can find the rest of our budget-orientated decks at the bottom of the page.

Budget Rogue deck strategy guide

The best approach to take when playing Rogue on a shoestring is to go down the tempo route, and our decklist aims to do just that. Use cards like Goblin Auto-Barber, SI: 7 Agent and Defias Ringleader to assume an early-game presence, while using your handy removal spells to keep the opponent’s board clear.

From here, you need to make the most efficient use of your other cards that you can. Assassin’s Blade can be beefed up with Deadly Poison, for example, while Blade Flurry can be used to tear the opponent’s board apart. Then there’s the Oil Rogue’s favourite tool: Tinker’s Sharpsword Oil. Make sure you have a minion and a solid weapon for this incredible spell to land on.

Budget Rogue deck Mulligan guide

As this is a fairly primitive deck to play with, Mulliganing for the right cards isn’t too tricky at all. Cards like Backstab, Deadly Poison and Goblin Auto-Barber are all worth keeping, as they provide plenty of options in the early stages of the game.

Don’t keep SI: 7 Agent unless you have The Coin though, as you want the combo to trigger. If you’ve got The Coin, Defias Ringleader is another must-keep as it allows you to get two bodies on the board on your first play.

Budget Rogue deck card combos and synergies

– As with all of our budget-orientated decks, it pays to wrap your head around all of the important card combos so that you play the deck out efficiently. Here’s what you need to know:

Tinker’s Sharpsword Oil will beef up either your Hero Power dagger or your Assassin’s Blade – you will of course ideally trigger it on the latter.

– The same advice applies to Deadly Poison, although it’s also a very strong removal option in the early game, and you’ll often use it on your basic dagger for this very purpose.

– As we mentioned further up the page, you can use The Coin to trigger the Defias Ringleader combo and get two bodies out on the board for a very low cost.

– If you must use your Blade Flurry and you have two charges left on your weapon, make sure you spend one of them before casting the spell – it’s important extra damage, particularly if you’ve buffed the blade!

Azure Drake can be used to boost up your cheap removal spells extremely efficiently. Always factor this creature into your maths carefully if it’s available and you have a complex turn ahead of you!

Goblin Auto-Barber is another card that can trip you up if you don’t plan meticulously. It may not grant much extra damage to your weapon, but it can make all the difference for an early Blade Flurry.
