How to beat Lord Godfrey in Hearthstone's Monster Hunt mode.

Every good hero has a villain they must face up to. Hearthstone’s Monster Hunt mode knows this and gives everyone a nemesis they must defeat before they can challenge Hagatha the Witch. These fights are the culmination of everything you’ve worked towards in the run, putting your collection of cards, treasures and deck piloting skills to the test one last time.
The Monster Hunt nemesis for the Cannoneer is Lord Godfrey: he’s a ludicrous Warlock card in the main game, but luckily enough a far less threatening encounter in this mode. Being smart with minion positioning is the key to victory, so here are some tips and tricks to negate all of his power and get you that golden crown for the Cannoneer.

Lord Godfrey: Overview
- Name: Lord Godfrey
- Health: 60
- Hero Power: Pistol Barrage (1 mana) – Deal 2 damage to a minion and the minions next to it.
This fight is all about minion positioning to play around his hero power and making clever use of your cannons to avoid powering up his own creatures.
Lord Godfrey: Deck

Lord Godfrey: Strategy
Lord Godfrey‘s entire plan is to try and negate your cannons. In fact, his deck is so focused on trying to find cards that work well against your cannons that they don’t have a high base power level and he ends up being quite an easy fight.
The first important point to remember is that your cannons don’t technically have any health, so if you position minions on either side of them you can significantly reduce the strength of Lord Godfrey‘s hero power. Essentially you can split the board into multiple segments – even more if you have taken Grizzled Reinforcement – and force him to focus on one area at a time. If you are forced to play minions next to each other, be sure none of them have two or less health.
Lord Godfrey also plays a lot of creatures that gain boosts after taking minimal chip damage – something your cannons are very good at doing. You can prepare a counter to this during your run if you pick up the Dragonfire Ammo Treasure to increase your cannon damage or hold off on using your cannons unless they’re buffed by Extra Powder.
On the other hand, sometimes he’s foolish enough to drop a Bittertide Hydra on the board, and that’s something you’ll want to fully capitalise on. Fire your cannons into that wherever possible and soon enough his health will be dwindling down rapidly.
Outside of those key points the fight is fairly straightforward from there. Lord Godfrey doesn’t have too many significant big minion threats (outside of a Savannah Highmane) so you can play a standard control game and start pushing damage once you have board control.
Lord Godfrey: Rewards
Sadly, unless you count the thrill of victory, there are no great rewards for seeing off Lord Godfrey. Well, it does at least bring you closer to the clash with Hagatha the Witch.
