Hearthstone: Legendary Weapons guide – Best cards and decks

0

Everything you need to know about Hearthstone's upcoming Legendary Weapons.

Our Hearthstone Legendary Weapons guide contains details of every card, with the best Legendary Weapon decks to be added at launch.

The launch of Kobolds and Catacombs is very nearly upon us, and in addition to the usual 130+ cards that a new expansion brings, we’re also getting Legendary Weapons. Each hero in the game is getting their own blade this time around – even those characters who typically can’t make use of them!

In our Legendary Weapons guide, we’ve pulled together all of the information that’s currently known about each one of these cards. We’re also in the process of compiling decks that make use of each weapon, and we’ll be slotting these in as we approach launch and beyond.

Each one of these guides will be updated as the lists become more refined, so bookmark your favourites and check back often.

Update: 5th December

With the recent reveal of the Hunter and Warrior Legendary Weapons, we now have details of all nine! We’ve added both of these new arrivals to our guide, and we’re also in the process of adding starting deck lists for the new Kobolds meta. Check underneath each entry for links out to these first edition guides.

Before we come to the cards themselves, let’s start with the basics:

  • Everyone who logs in after the release of Kobolds and Catacombs will receive a randomly selected Legendary Weapon card free of charge. Unlike the Frozen Throne mission content, you won’t need to do anything else to receive this reward – just log in and pick it up!
  • All nine heroes in the game will have their own unique weapon.
  • Weapons provided for heroes like the Druid, Mage and Priest (who typically can’t wield them), will have zero attack. This is to help preserve the class identity of those heroes who rely heavily on their blades to do damage.
  • To the best of our knowledge, cards like Acidic Swamp Ooze and Harrison Jones will be able to remove Legendary weapons from the opponent’s hand, just as they would any other weapon in the game.

Legendary Weapon cards

The Mage and Priest weapons were the first to be revealed at BlizzCon 2017, but since then the details of all nine have been confirmed. In this section you’ll find an overview of each one, and a list of related Legendary Weapon decks just below.

Druid – Twig of the World Tree

Play your hand out before spending the last charge of this blade and you’ll gain a whopping ten Mana to mess around with. Not bad for four Mana!

Twig of the World Tree decks:

Hunter – Rhok’delar

This Legendary Weapon provides the Hunter with some very big direction: go big on spells! The Battlecry rewards are randomly selected, but you should hopefully get something to make a big play with.

Rhok’delar decks:

Mage – Aluneth

This weapon has no Attack value and simply sits in your hand passively once you’ve played it for six Mana. Watch out for fatigue as you keep drawing those free cards into your hand – you can have too much of a good thing!

Aluneth decks:

Paladin – Val’anyr

The most interesting thing about Val’any – like the Druid Legenadry Weapon – is that it’s as good as immune to the Harrison Jones and Acidic Swamp Ooze plays we’re likely to see an awful lot of in the new meta.

Val’anyr decks:

Priest – Dragon Soul

Here’s the Priest’s Dragon Soul card. Hopefully, and as the name suggests, this card will revive the fortunes of Dragon Priest somewhat.

Dragon Soul decks:

Rogue – Kingsbane

The cool things about Kingsbane is that any weapon buffs that have been applied to it are maintained when it’s destroyed and shuffled back into your deck. There’s the potential for insane value to be achieved in the right kind of deck, but will the blade’s return be too slow in the coming meta?

Kingsbane decks:

Shaman – The Runespear

The 8-Mana cost is pretty intimidating, but this 3 / 3 blade will allow you to Discover a spell and then cast it with random targets each time you attack with it. Ignoring any weapon buffs, you’ll get three attempts at this.

Warlock – Skull of the Man’ari

Next up is the Warlock’s Legendary Weapon in Kobolds and Catacombs, Skull of the Man’ari. At first glance it seems pretty low-impact for a 5-Mana card if we’re honest, and if it gets instantly eaten by Acidic Swamp Ooze or Harrison Jones you could find yourself quickly behind in the game.

Skull of the Man’ari decks:

Warrior – Woecleaver

Woecleaver sits naturally enough in the Big Warrior deck that’s predicted to be, well, big in the Kobolds and Catacombs meta. Ignore the cost and stats – you have big targets to drag onto the board with this.

Woecleaver decks:
