Hearthstone nerfs Shaman again, also hitting Rogue and Warrior’s strongest tools

The meta of Hearthstone looks to be shifting once again, with numerous changes coming about to some of the game’s stronger cards.

Hearthstone nerfs Shaman, Rogue, Warrior and Warlock

Apparently, the previous changes to the Shaman class weren’t quite enough, such was the power level of the Galakrond Shaman archetype. Dragon’s Pack and Invocation of Frost have subsequently been taken down a peg, cutting down on even more of the class’ powerful and game-changing tools. Specifically with Dragon’s Pack, giving the two Spirit Wolves +2/+2 rather than +3/+3 means they’re far less likely to survive against most mid-game minions, as well as being unable to kill 5 Health enemies in one hit.

Warrior has had two different archetypes adjusted. Scion of Ruin now costs 4 mana, which will make it slightly harder to play in Galakrond Warrior (although still extremely powerful), whilst Ancharrr has 2 Durability rather than 3. This’ll make Pirate Warrior even less consistent, as it was essentially only playable if you drew Ancharrr early on anyway.

A card many have had a problem with is Necrium Apothecary, and upping its mana cost from 4 to 5 should make it slightly less of a ridiculous swing play early on, gaining the Deathrattle of Mechanical Whelp or something equally powerful. Similarly, Fiendish Rites lets Warlocks Invoke Galakrond, the Wretched, as well as buffing minions already on board. Changing its cost to 4 from 3 makes it much more cumbersome to cast, potentially avoiding Zoo Warlock achieving early domination.

The final change is a bit simpler. Dragonqueen Alexstrasza can no longer produce another copy of Dragonqueen Alexstrasza through her Battlecry. That interaction proved a bit too strong for Highlander decks, so you’ll have to settle for a Battlecry that’s honestly still ridiculously strong and potentially game-winning.

Remember – these cards are available for a full Arcane Dust refund if you disenchant them! If you’ve got an Ancharrr, for example, you can get 1600 dust for it for two weeks, letting you exchange the card for any Legendary of your choice.
