Well deserved, to be fair.
Due to the enormous popularity and power level of the Demon Hunter class, key cards have already been nerfed.
Upon the launch of Ashes of Outland, and Hearthstone’s first ever new class, Demon Hunter immediately soared to the top of the ladder, dominating the early metagame and seemingly able to beat almost any deck. This prompted the developers to immediately nerf four of the class’ most game-changing and powerful cards.
Hearthstone day-1 Nerfs to Demon Hunter cards
Here are the cards on the chopping block. You can see the full update notes on Blizzard’s site.
- Skull of Gul’dan – Cost increased from 5 to 6
- Imprisoned Antaen – Cost increased from 5 to 6
- Eye Beam – Outcast cost increased from 0 to 1
- Aldrachi Warblades – Durability decreased from 3 to 2
These cards are being tweaked on the server side, so no update is necessary at present, but the new versions of the cards won’t show up changed in your collection yet. See below what Eye Beam now looks like, for example.
There have also been reductions in the drop rates of Demon Hunter class cards in Arena mode, since the class was also dominating there.
Full Arcane Dust refunds are to be offered for these cards, so if you want to switch out a golden Eye Beam for something a little different, now is the time. For normal versions of Rare and Epic cards, you’ll get 100 and 400 dust respectively, whilst for golden versions you can disenchant for 800 and 1600.
Keep an eye out for our Demon Hunter deck lists and the updates to follow! The meta will be shaking out rather differently than it otherwise would have, so we’ll be staying on top of it. In the meantime, check out some of our other deck list guides like No Minion Mage or the new and improved Pure Paladin.
