Hearthstone’s Tombs of Terror features Signature Treasures and raid boss-style battles

In a Hearthside Chat video, Hearthstone mission designer Ryan Collins revealed how the Saviors of Uldum single-player content is going to play. Signature Treasures, raid boss-style battles, and multi-class heroes are the focus of the Tombs of Terror.
Four chapters will be available, released over the course of three weeks. Chapters 1 and 2 are coming on Tuesday 17th September, with Chapter 3 releasing a week later, on the 24th. Chapter 4 and the secret Finale, in which all four Explorers will likely team up against a mysterious foe, is due to arrive on Tuesday 1st October.
Uldum’s Plague cards, it was revealed, were actually created by Rafaam’s League of E.V.I.L. in order to destroy the world. In doing so, they awakened some scary monsters who must be dealt with using the standard build-as-you-go format popularised by previous Hearthstone adventures. 24 unique Treasures have been added, powerful cards that can swing your runs back to your favour, and are specific to each hero.
Each of the four chapters will put you in control of one of the League of Explorers: Reno Jackson, Elise Starseeker, Brann Bronzebeard, and Sir Finley Mrrgglton. They’ve got a few extra abilities for this adventure too, as each hero possesses the abilities of two classes.
Reno combines Mage and Rogue, Elise represents Druid and Priest, Brann unites Hunter and Warrior, whilst Finley, being a Murloc, brings together Paladin and Shaman. You’ll wield the potential for big new combos using cross-class synergies, as well as cross paths once more with Bartender Bob. Licensing laws in Uldum are relaxed, apparently.
These combos can get intense. For example, Reno’s Gatling Wand treasure upgrades its damage output with each spell you’ve cast so far. Adding the Rogue spell pool to Mage’s gives a giant variety of abilities, and you’ll be able to upgrade the Gatling Wand for a hugely powerful finisher against many enemies.
At the end of each run, explorers will challenge a Plague Lord, the physical embodiment of each of the plagues. These big baddies with high health totals are reminiscent of raid bosses in other games, and can be beaten over the course of multiple runs if necessary.
The adventure can be pre-purchased for £16.99, a bundle which includes a random Legendary card and special card back. Details of the final battle are a secret at the moment, but we’ll keep you updated as soon as we know more.
