How to find Pascal, get pearls, and craft Mermaid DIY furniture in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
One way or an otter.
Pascal has some goodies in the form of DIY recipes for Mermaid furniture. Here’s how to get your hands on them.
The wavy sea otter Pascal will flop himself into your seaside retreat when you get the gear he wants. It’ll take a lot of swimming about, so give it a go when you feel like having a little chill sesh.
How to find Pascal and craft Mermaid DIY furniture in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
It’s pretty easy to find Pascal. Just follow these steps:
- 1: Go Swimming. Check out our Animal Crossing Swimming page for more information.
- 2: Dive under water at bubbly points. You’re looking for whatever goodies you can find, but specifically you want a medium-sized shadow. Swim over to it and pick it up.
- 3: Search until you find a scallop. They’re available all year round and at all times of day, so it shouldn’t take too long.
- 4: Pascal will show up from the depths and ask for you to give it to him.

Once you give Pascal the scallop, he’ll give you a DIY recipe for Mermaid furniture, as well as laying some ‘truth’ on you in the form of a super deep tidbit of wisdom. Pascal has the kind of vibes we wouldn’t have expected in Animal Crossing, but then again he’s wearing a beanie underwater so who’s to judge?

Something to keep in mind is that Pascal will only appear with your first scallop of the day, so don’t go expecting to farm all the furniture in one.
How to find pearls to make Mermaid Furniture
Pearls are found in the exact same way as scallops – diving under the sea a bunch of times. Mermaid furniture requires both shells and pearls to craft, so it’s a good idea to start stockpiling your shells instead of selling them right away to Nook’s Cranny.
You’ll have to get swimming to make your vibey mermaid room though, so jump in the sea and dive!
