How to unlock the CR-56 AMAX in Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare

The CR-56 AMAX is a heavy hitting Assault Rifle which excels at mid to close range. In this guide we’ll explain how to unlock it for use in Warzone and Modern Warfare.
Introduced in Season 4, the CR-56 AMAX occupies a lovely medium between the hard to control AK47 and something far more forgiving like the Kilo 141. This makes it one of the tougher weapons to acclimatise to, but if you can handle its kick, you can shred enemies at mid range.
Now that Season 4 is over, you’ll need to unlock this weapon by completing a challenge. It’s one which isn’t too ridiculous but will require some specific game modes in Modern Warfare to complete. If you’re feeling particularly adventurous, it’s doable in Warzone but will take some hard graft.
How to unlock the CR-56 AMAX for Warzone
To unlock the CR-56 AMAX for use in Warzone, you’ll need to get 3 Gunbutt kills while using an Assault Rifle in 10 different matches.
As you’d expect, this challenge is far, far easier if you own Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and its multiplayer modes. It’s perfectly doable in Warzone, but it’ll certainly be an ‘experience’.
With this in mind, we’d highly recommend picking up Modern Warfare if you haven’t already. Not only will you be able to unlock the CR-56 AMAX, but many other weapons and attachments at a frightening pace.
So, how do you tackle this challenge?
Equip an Assault Rifle. Not just any old assault rifle, though. Make sure you’ve specced it out to be as mobile as possible. You aren’t going to be shooting anyone with it, so you want to be speedy enough to run at enemies and bash their noses in. Give your weapon no-stock, reduce the barrel size, and more.
Get Fast Melee on. Since you’ll be rushing at enemies for the beatdown, you want to lash out as fast as possible. This perk will increase your melee speed and will be found in the gun perks section.
Protect your back. Consider equipping a Riot Shield as your secondary to protect your back when running about. It’s surprising how much punishment you can soak up!
Pick the right playlist. This one’s a toughy as it’s all up to what’s available during the week. If possible, select ‘Shoot the Ship 24/7’ or something similar. You want matches to be as close quarters as possible.
Don’t be afraid to back out. While we don’t actively encourage backing out of a match, doing so when going for a challenge is acceptable in our books. Make sure you’re checking challenge completion as you gunbutt enemies in-game, then back out once you’ve secured your precious point. Quitting doesn’t erase progress, which should make this painful process much faster.
