Blizzard is looking for more community feedback.
A number of Mystery Heroes fixes are coming to Overwatch in the near future, as confirmed in an official forum post by game director Jeff Kaplan
Mystery Heroes has been a real hit with the Overwatch community, offering a chaotic experience that forces players into taking on the role of a different hero every time they respawn. It’s a frenetic game mode that provides a perfect playground for practicing a whole host of heroes.
Unfortunately Mystery Heroes is also marred by a few issues and exploits that affect the overall gameplay experience.
It seems that Blizzard is keen to implement a number of fixes to Mystery Heroes in the future, and are looking to engage more with the community to make the game mode the best in can possibly be:
“We have a number of Mystery Heroes fixes on our to-do list,” he wrote. “We’re very eager to get to them but it just hasn’t bubbled to the top of our priority list yet. We definitely want to get rid of suiciding to force a hero switch. We will also remove the “Assemble Heroes” wait time as there is no reason for it in this mode. We have some other improvements in mind as well.”
Purposefully suiciding in order to force a hero switch looks like it’s on the way out, and Blizzard is also expressing interest in how the community feels about a purely random hero system, as opposed to a new system that aims to balance teams more:
“I am curious how the community as a whole feels about some of the ideas you bring up. I know that it frustrates me when the other team ends up with 5 D.Va’s. I also get frustrated when the enemy team has a balanced team comp and my team comp is less balanced. But perhaps that is part of the charm of the mode?”
“How do you guys feel about a purely random system (such as it works now) versus a mostly random system where we try to limit stacking and nudge the team comps towards something more reasonable? I can see arguments for both ways being compelling to different people.”
