NRG makes major signings ahead of Gears 5 esports launch
Hugely successful Former OpTic Gaming roster now part of NRG.
NRG has entered the Gears of War 5 scene, and it’s only gone and signed TOX Gaming’s former roster – arguably the greatest Gears team of all time having achieved success at OpTic Gaming.
Gilbert “Xplosive” Rojo, Alex “SuMuNs” Ascencion, Brian “SoluRs” Valenzuela, Arody “Praized” Dipre, Billy “MentaL” Putnam Jr., and head coach Nick “Ashes” Ridgeway are all now part of NRG’s push into the upcoming Gears 5 competitive scene.

If there’s one team synonymous with Gears esports, this is it. They were easily the most dominant roster in the Gears 4 competitive scene, having won a staggering 17 out of 19 tournaments.
In July the team were released from OpTic, but were soon picked up by TOX Gaming who they represented in the ELEAGUE Gears 5 Summer Series Invitational. Of course, they dominated the event and took home the $80,000 prize.
As we approach the beginning of the Gears 5 esports league (dates haven’t been confirmed yet), NRG must be feeling pretty good about its roster pickup. It’s got a very strong chance of taking the top spot and forging a new legacy with a team that’s still not done winning.
