Creepy and crawly.

Our Elise Spider Aggro deck list guide features the best Legends of Runeterra deck list for the open beta (February 2020). Our Elise Spider Aggro guide also contains Mulligan advice, card combos and strategy tips.

If you’re looking for a rundown of the best decks Legends of Runeterra has to offer, check out our Legends of Runeterra Best Decks page!

This deck is focused on taking down your enemy as quickly as possible. It’s a great way to climb the ranked ladder, since you’ll often be able to close out swift wins by flooding the board with spiders and sapping your enemy’s health total before they have the chance to respond.

This deck is one of the simpler ones to pilot too, so if you’re struggling with the fundamentals it’s well worth giving Elise Spider Aggro a go, especially if you happen to have the cards already.

That’s not to say it’s a completely skilless deck to play though! We’ve put together a guide based on top player Pokrovak’s version of the deck, so read on for some handy pointers on piloting Elise Spider Aggro.

In the latest version of our Elise Spider Aggro guide, we’ve got the deck list we’re using for the open beta of Legends of Runeterra.

General strategy

You’re looking to hit the enemy Nexus as much as humanly possible. This sometimes means letting them hit your Nexus and forgoing blocks too, in order to keep your units alive. Here’s how you should be aiming to play this deck.

Early game: If you’re going first, Precious Pet is a great first play since Fearsome means it’s pretty hard for your opponent to block and it’s an easy 2 damage. Any of your 1-drops are solid early on though, ideally curving into Elise, Arachnoid Horror or House Spider. You’re basically looking to flood your side of the board with spidery bois. If you draw well, get Elise upgraded as quickly as you can. You might want to not bother attacking for a turn in order to keep spiders alive and allow Elise to upgrade – she beefs up if you start a turn with 3 or more other Spiders. After this, all your spiders have Challenger AND Fearsome, meaning they’ll be able to bypass weak enemy units when attacking, as well as force other enemies into unfavourable blocks. You can take out opposing Challenger units before they can get rid of Elise, and generally just go for the Nexus.

If you don’t draw Elise, you’ll still be able to pile on the pressure. You’ve got a whole load of units to toss onto the board at all times, letting you get a bunch of damage in even without the added bonus of your Champion. Crowd Favourite gets buffed big time with a full board too, so get those minions out and pray the enemy doesn’t have Avalanche.

Mid game: Ideally, your enemy is running low on health at this point. The aforementioned Crowd Favourite should be playable at this point if enough tokens have survived, and you’ll be able to toss a Frenzied Skitterer on board too. This’ll buff your Spiders and lower the attack of enemy units, letting you deal even more damage – especially if this puts their units under 3 attack and renders them unable to block Fearsome units.

If you’ve hit your opponent for decent damage, they might be on less than half health on their Nexus. This means you can play Darius and he’ll immediately upgrade, giving you 10 attack power with Overwhelm. This might be enough to finish your opponent early, as without hard removal they’ll struggle to handle your huge damage.

Late game: Even if the game is dragged out to the late stages, you’ve got some tricks up your sleeve. Rhasa the Sunderer can remove enemy minions for a ludicrously low cost, leaving you with a high-attack Fearsome unit on board too. Commander Ledros is a silly card too – he halves the enemy’s health when played and is returned to your hand when he dies. The damage Ledros does rounds up too, meaning if the enemy Nexus is on 1 Health, he’ll finish them off and win you the game.

Aside from this, you’re mostly just looking for that last bit of damage at this point. Might grants a friendly unit Overwhelm, which can be enough to finish things off, and Brothers’ Bond beefs up two friendly units’ attack, potentially leading to 4 extra damage. Eventually, either your opponent will run out of Nexus health, or you’ll run out of resources – although Commander Ledros is a great constantly-regenerating source of value if you need it.

These are the cards you’ll want to make the best possible start with Elise Spider Aggro:

  • 1. We love keeping Elise early game. She can lead to swift wins if your opponent can’t deal with her, and summons a 1/1 Spiderling with every single attack.
  • 2. 1 cost units are great to keep hold of, especially Precious Pet. It’s hard to kill thanks to Fearsome, since your enemy will likely need to block it with a more valuable unit than they’d like.
  • 3. Other spider-generating stuff is good early on too. House Spider, Arachnoid Horror, and Hapless Aristocrat all contribute to upgrading Elise, and benefit from said upgrade.

Elise Spider Aggro tips, combos and synergies

Here’s an overview of the synergies to look out for in this Elise Spider Aggro deck. Keep an eye out for more once the metagame has time to grow.

Darius’ and Crowd Favourite’s Overwhelm ability lets them hit through blockers, dealing damage to your enemy’s Nexus that isn’t absorbed by blockers.

– Make use of your removal spells to get rid of enemy threats. Early Champion units can be gotten rid of thanks to Vile Feast and Black Spear, putting you on the front foot and avoiding the enemy snowballing.

– Units with Fearsome can’t be blocked by enemies with under 3 Power. This often forces your foe to block small units with much stronger ones, or forego blocking altogether.

– If your Elise dies off, your Spiders all lose Fearsome and Challenger, so try to use Challenger to keep her out of harm’s way.

Frenzied Skitterer can force your opponents into being unable to block Fearsome units. Reducing their attack to below 3 could open you up to a bunch of strong attacks, as well as buffing your own Spiders by +1/+0 too.

Darius will often be the closer you need to end a match. If Commander Ledros has halved your enemy’s Nexus health, Darius will always upgrade and be staring your opponent down with a frightening 10 attack and Overwhelm.

Rhasa the Sunderer only triggers when you’ve had a friendly minion die on the same turn, so either block or use something like Glimpse Beyond to activate this effect.

– Brothers’ Bond is a Burst spell, meaning you can cast it without giving your opponent a chance to respond. This can find you lethal damage with a cheeky +4 attack for just 2 mana, especially after they’ve already committed blockers.
