Our Trapper locations guide explains where to find the Trapper’s stalls across Red Dead Redemptions 2’s map, what he sells and how he works.
The Trapper is a special merchant in Red Dead Redemption 2 that deals in pelts, carcasses and anything hunting related really. You’ll find him in a major town first and he’ll have several stalls dotted around the map thereafter.
Approach one of the Trapper’s stalls and you’ll find a selection of animal-based wares. Everything from Garments Sets, Reinforced Equipment and even special Saddles can be purchased from him – provided that you’ve got the materials to hand too. Many of the items he’s got on offer require you to fulfil a special recipe so he can stitch together all the pelts and other bits and bobs you’ve brought him.

All Trapper Locations
The Trapper can be found in a number of different locations around Red Dead Redemption 2’s map, but there’s one spot where you’re more likely to encounter him first – Saint Denis.
After hunting an animal and skinning it, you’ll be left with a valuable pelt. It’s likely that you’ll want to hunt down the Trapper after you’ve felled a particularly rare beast and see what that special pelt will fetch you.
You can ride to Saint Denis once you’ve reached Chapter 2 in the story, or fast travel via train from nearby towns like Valentine.
Trapper Location 1: Saint Denis
You’ll find the Trapper’s main stall located in the Saint Denis market which is the Eastern part of town. If you’re looking at the main map, his icon sits right on the “S” in “Denis”.
Trapper Location 2: Riggs Station
The Trapper’s got a lovely little camp set up just North East of Riggs Station and West of Bard’s Crossing. He’s on top of a hill with some fearsome wildlife lurking nearby, so be careful when seeking him out.
Trapper Location 3: West of Elysian Pool
His marker is wedged between between the “V” and “E” in “Hanover” and directly West of Elysian Pool near the road.
Trapper Location 4: New Austin
Only accessible once you’ve finished the main campaign.
North of Macfarlane’s Ranch in the New Austin area. His marker is just East of “Montana River”.

The Trapper’s your go-to guy for anything hunting related and sells an assortment of items in exchange for pelts and other items found in the game world.
Say you wanted to craft the Legendary Bear Head Hat, then you’d need 1 Legendary Bear Pelt. For the Legendary Bear Coat, you’d need 1 Legendary Bear Pelt and a Perfect Bison Pelt. Of course, you’ll also need to pay the Trapper a fee to craft it all for you as well.
