General strategy

With Quest Resurrect Priest your plan is to overwhelm your opponent by bringing back your minions from the dead. You’re looking to maximise your healing early on and use a controlling playstyle to secure victory later on in the game.

Early game: A steady early plan of board control and removal awaits you at first. Penance offers this in spades, and after getting one of your minions on board (aside from Psychopomp), you’ll be all good. Remember, you don’t have to play your Quest on turn 1 – your foe might refuse to damage you if you do, meaning it’ll take longer to complete it. Sometimes, it’s better to not play the Quest until you’ve already got some healing to do. Cards like Forbidden Words and Shadow Word: Death should keep you from dying too early against aggro, and then you’ll be alright.

Mid game: Your minions can start hitting the board, healing you up and destroying enemies. Convincing Infiltrator is great to play here, and it can be resurrected by Psychopomp with Reborn, giving you a big chunk of value.

Your Khartut Defender heals your hero twice, which can hopefully get you to Quest completion as early as possible. Once this is done, you’re ready for your final plan.

Late game: Now your plan to start reviving your minions can be put into action. Mass Resurrection will bring back three friendly minions, and Plague of Death can be used in the mirror match to remove enemy boards. You should be finishing your Quest by this time too, so keep buffing your minions whenever you can.

Once you’ve brought some minions back from the dead, you’ll want to buff them up as much as possible to avoid an untimely defeat. Giving Khartut Defender, for example, +3/+3 is massively strong, as well as Batterhead, which can clear off entire boards alone. This constant presence should be too much for your foe to deal with if you’ve made it this far, so just keep buffing the minions it makes sense to buff. Trade smartly so your opponent can’t gain a foothold in the game again, and keep going face until the game is done. You should be able to buff your minions up with Obelisk’s Eye if some survive late on, and this value can swiftly earn you the victory.

Aggro opponents

These tips should help you out when up against aggro opponents:

  • 1. Go control heavy in the early game with your removal spells so they don’t put you too far behind.
  • 2. In terms of big board removal, Mass Hysteria is your best bet for clearing out your opponent’s minions once they’ve gone sufficiently wide.
  • 3. Convincing Infiltrator is the worst nightmare of a lot of aggro decks. It chips away at their minions’ health whilst also eliminating one of them outright.
  • 4. You’d usually want to save Forbidden Words for a large threat, but you can use some leftover mana on the spell to take out a weaker but potentially bothersome early drop before it gets out of control (think Scavenging Hyena).

Control opponents

Get the better of control decks with these helpful tips and tricks:

  • 1. With only Shadow Word: Death, Convincing Infiltrator and Forbidden Words as your hard removal, be sure to save them for your opponent’s most dangerous and biggest minions.
  • 2. Try to get your opponent to use most of their hard removal before you start reviving minions en-masse again. That way they’ll be out of options and leave you free to buff.
  • 3. N’Zoth, the Corruptor is often best saved for later, giving you a solid foundation for resurrection after your opponent has used their removal.

Quest Resurrect Priest tips, card combos and synergies

New to Quest Resurrect Priest? The following combos should be at the back of your mind during every match!

Sandhoof Waterbearer only ever heals a damaged friendly character, so sometimes it’s best to use your Hero Power to heal it so that the minion will heal your face.

– Try to keep a list of your minions that have died in the back of your mind so you know what to expect when you cast Mass Resurrection.

– Make sure you monitor your Mana closely if you think you’re going to use Forbidden Words during your turn. You’ll want to make sure you have enough Mana leftover so it matches or is higher than the Attack value of the minion you want to cast it on.

Card choices and substitutions

Quest Resurrect Priest is different from times gone by, when we would rely on Divine Spirit and Inner Fire. These days, the deck is more value-based, so keep an eye out for these important combos:

  • Minions resurrected by Psychopomp, as well as Khartut Defender, have Reborn, meaning they are resurrected with 1 health remaining when they die. This is great for healing synergies, as you can restore these minions back up to full health to advance your Quest.
  • Convincing Infiltrator can be fantastic for dealing with enemy minions bigger than you’d usually be able to handle.
  • Plague of Death: Perfect removal for the discerning Deathrattle-hater.
  • Khartut Defender: Heals you and provides a solid Taunt to stall enemies.
  • Skeletal Dragon is great for value, but be careful. If you start playing loads of generated Dragons, you’ll quickly dilute your resurrection pool, making you less likely to raise your stronger minions from the dead.
  • Reliquary of Souls and Reliquary Prime are great ways to use your resurrection effects. Reliquary of Souls shuffles more copies of the Prime version into your deck, whilst Reliquary Prime is just an amazing way to stabilise with its Taunt and Lifesteal. It’s the perfect target for Obelisk’s Eye.
  • Mass Resurrection: Can offer some incredible value if it brings back many of the high-cost drops that this deck runs and force your opponent to fight through them again.
