A new trailer has been released for the EU launch of Ring of Elysium, Tencent’s decidedly chilly take on the Battle Royale genre.
The game adds a few vehicular twists on the established formula, with snowboards, hand gliders, zip lines and snowmobiles all available to help you get around an isolated battleground that’s also prone to avalanches.
Here’s the trailer which shows them all in action.
Ring of Elysium takes a different approach to the standard Battle Royale experience in other ways too.
Rather than leaping from a bus and gliding into battle, for example, players choose their spawning point by picking a square on the map – and you can see where other players are heading to as well, providing a very different strategic approach to the start of each round.
Unusually, you also get to pick a starting loadout before the match kicks off. You can grab a gun, a few health-restoring items, and even a preferred mobility advantage, be that a snowboard, glider or an axe so you can haul your way up perilous cliff edges.
As for the end-game, players will ultimately have to fight for one of four seats available in the helicopter that arrives once the final gameplay zone has been locked down.
Ring of Elysium is currently in Early Access and can be downloaded for PC from the Steam store.
