Teamfight Tactics Patch 9.16 arrives tomorrow and is expected to shake up the meta
Four new champions, a new Trait and more.
Riot Games’ Teamfight Tactics has had tremendous success following its launch in June. Since then the devs have been working hard to keep the game as fresh as possible, and will be adding a whole host of changes in patch 9.16. New champions, buffs, nerfs and bug fixes are all due to arrive tomorrow, Wednesday 14th August.
In an update announced last week by Riot designer Mort, it was revealed that four new champions would be added to the game: Camille, Jayce, Jinx and Vi. These champions are all part of the new Hextech Trait too, which will disable enemy items at random. With two Hextech champions you’ll disable an item for 5 seconds, whilst four will weaken the enemy for a lengthy 15.
Its Friday which means its tentative patch changes update. Next patch is 9.16 which means a lot of changes, and our first new Trait since launch! We still have a long way to go, but were working as hard as possible. Thanks for continuing to play TFT! pic.twitter.com/3qrI5ZosjJ

That’s not all though. There’ll be changes galore to a bunch of characters and mechanics to balance the game out. Ahri, Katarina, Miss Fortune and Zed will all receive buffs, prompting whispers of joy from Assassins everywhere, and the Wild Trait is also being powered up. Meanwhile, Demons are being reworked after their recent nerf, and Braum, Cho’Gath, Karthus and Kha’Zix are each receiving downgrades of their own.
Item-wise, the Infinity Edge, Locket of the Iron Solari and Redemption are being buffed, whilst the Hush item is the recipient of a wholescale rework. Statikk Shiv and Ionic Spark are also being nerfed after their complete suppression of certain play styles and Champions. Finally, bug fixes are coming to Nidalee and the Guardian Angel item.
We’re looking forward to seeing how the addition of the Hextech Origin impacts the overall game, as interaction with enemy items is something we’ve not seen yet in TFT. Hopefully, the changes make for a dynamic meta that takes the game in a positive direction.
