What’s the lowdown on The Grand Tournament?
As Eric Dodds announced at the event, The Grand Tournament is a full-blooded expansion in the vein of Goblins vs Gnomes. It is themed as a fun take on World of Warcraft’s Argent Tournament, where colourful characters compete for honour and glory.
How many new cards will be added in The Grand Tournament?
More than 130 new cards are planned for Hearthstone’s next expansion. They’ll be delivered in packs of five, just as they have previously with Goblins vs Gnomes and Classic packs. We’ve got a rundown of all the cards that have been officially revealed so far if you want to see what’s in store.
Will there be any new game modes in The Grand Tournament?
No, there won’t be any new game modes included with Hearthstone’s next expansion. Maybe next time we’ll get that long-awaited tournament mode…
What’s the release date for The Grand Tournament?
No specific release date was annonuced by Blizzard at the event, but it will be released at some point during the month of August.
How much will The Grand Tournament cost when it’s released?
The expansion itself will be free, and card packs connected with the expansion will be available for the same cost as previous pack types.
Are there any new card mechanics in The Grand Tournament?
Yes. New cards and mechanics that affect Hero Powers are being introduced. Maiden of the Lake is a 4 Mana 2/6 which reduces the cost of your Hero Power to 1 Mana as an additional bonus, for example.
There’s also a new keyword coming to the game called Inspire. When you see Inspire on a card – or the flag icon that denotes it – the card has an additional effect that activates every single time you use your Hero Power.
How much will card packs cost in The Grand Tournament?
Card packs will cost the same as previous packs of cards in Hearthstone. Expect to play 100 Gold per pack, or the real-world money equivalent in your usual currency pack breakdowns.
Prior to the expansion’s release, you’ll be able to pre-purchase 50 packs at a specially reduced price. You won’t be able to open them until the expansion arrives, however.
Will there be any new Heroes included in The Grand Tournament
No, there won’t be any new Heroes included in the Grand Tournament. Instead, the team are focusing on new mechanics for existing characters and Hero Powers.
Will there be a new game board for The Grand Tournament?
Yes, there will be a brand new game board for the new expansion. There’ll be cheering crowds, food to play around with, and arrows to fire around. Eric Dodds promises there’ll be lots of secrets packed within the board.
