Two new CS:GO maps added to casual matchmaking
Economy changes and weapon tweaks also included in the latest patch.
Valve has detailed economy changes, map updates and weapon balance tweaks in its latest CS:GO blog post.
Two new community maps, Biome and Subzero, are now available to play in casual matchmaking. Meanwhile, Canals has been removed from the Competitive matchmaking pool with Austria taking its place. Both Shipped and Insertion are no longer available in official matchmaking, but you’ll still be able to play them in private matches.
Today we’re adding two new maps to CS:GO for Casual matchmaking – Biome and Sub-Zero! We’re also shipping a change to the start-of-half economy and have made changes to the CZ75a and the Tec9. Information in today’s blog post: https://t.co/tXT1eaRUqW pic.twitter.com/EultPWajjF

Next up, economy changes. Valve has adjusted the “start-of-half” economy in Competitive matchmaking, with the aim of reducing the impact of a pistol round win on subsequent rounds. Those that lost the pistol round would have received $1,400, but this has been boosted by $500 per round loss. Now teams who lose the pistol round will receive an increased paycheck of $1,900, with subsequent losses earning them $2,400, then $2,900, before capping out at $3,400.
Players will no doubt rejoice at the CZ75a tweaks. Valve’s increased its recoil and fire inaccuracy, while slightly improving its accuracy recovery rate to “encourage semi-automatic fire at medium and long ranges”.
The Tec9’s been buffed in turn, with improvements to its accuracy at medium range. Valve’s certainly trying to inject some variety back into the pistol round, while reducing its overall impact for teams who lose out – good stuff.
Dig further into the patch notes and there are a few minor tweaks to weapon prices, audio settings and mouse bindings. Going by the community reception so far, this update has hit the mark and shows that Valve is listening, even if that isn’t always apparent.
