Here's how it'll work.
Blizzard has given us a breakdown of all the stats from D.Va’s recently announced Micro-Missiles ability that’s on its way to the test server soon.
Principal designer Geoff Goodman shared these details in the official forums, before adding that these stats are subject to change as the re-design goes through testing.
Here are all the stats as they stand right now:
- Number of missiles: 18
- Shots per second: 11
- Explosion Damage: 8 (has damage falloff)
- Impact Damage: 4
- Radius: 1.5m (for comparison, Pharah’s rockets are 2.5m radius)
- Cooldown: 8s
Other additional insight comes from Overwatch YouTuber and Streamer Valkia. He had a chance to chat with Blizzard engineer Tim Ford on stream, who described D.Va’s new ability a little more:
“It has the morphology and shape of the Rocket Barrage [but it’s] much shorter and way less damage.”
“If you’re caught at a reasonable range away from her, you’re gonna survive it, but because of the wide splash [damage] and wide reach, she actually does pretty decent damage to barriers.”
All of this is incredibly interesting and suggests that D.Va is going to have some seriously enhanced burst damage, making her even better at taking out vulnerable targets.
Note that there’ll also be a wind-up time to D.Va’s Micro-Missiles, working in a similar fashion to Mei’s [RMB] shot. This suggests that you’ll have to anticipate enemy movements, and combo the new ability with [LMB] to make the most of its damage.
We’re also happy to see that there’s going to be a fairly lengthy cooldown of eight seconds on these Micro-Missiles too. This should prevent players from spamming them constantly and providing more of damage-dealing role than a tank like D.Va really should.
We’ll be sure to test these changes out as soon as they hit the PTR, and will bring you our impressions as soon as we’ve had a chance to go hands-on with the new D.Va.
