They're so fast, this is extremely unrealistic.
The gigas giant clam is one speedy mollusc. They’ll appear while swimming in your water, along with other quick beasts. Here’s how to catch them in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Some of you might be having trouble catching these quick sea creatures. We found it difficult too. Well fear not – we’ve put together a guide that’ll make it extremely easy to catch them!
How to catch the fast sea creatures in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

To catch the fast sea creatures while diving in Animal Crossing, just follow these easy steps:
- Step 1: Find a fast creature. They have differing shadow sizes – spider crabs and gigas giant clams are enormous, whilst giant isopods are medium-sized.
- Step 2: Swim up to them slowly. Don’t press A to paddle, or you’ll spook it. Just swim slowly – even if it’s been running away from you for a while it’ll slow down when you do.
- Step 3: Dive when you’re directly above the creature’s bubbles. With a bit of luck, you’ll immediately catch it. If not, you have about a second to swim towards it before you’re back in the chase.
And there you go! If you catch extra gigas giant clams you’ll be able to sell them for 15,000 bells, and giant isopods sell for 12,000. There are a variety of fast creatures, so keep searching until your Nookipedia is fully updated!
