“Hold to boost” D.Va option will be added to the game – Overwatch
Principal designer provides an official response to the community's request.
The Overwatch development team are considering adding a so-called “hold to boost” option for D.Va in an upcoming patch. The option would work in a similar fashion to Soldier 76’s “hold to Sprint” setting, whereby he only moves at a faster pace for as long as the key is held down.
Why is this such a big deal now though? D.Va gained a new ability in the latest patch called Multi-Missiles, which allows her to fire off a barrage of rockets into the target in question.
When chasing a target with boosters though, it’s easy to over-shoot that target without cancelling the extra speed, and have your burst damage go to waste as a result. Were you able to simply release the boost key, the process would be much simpler.

In a response to a forum post outlining this problem, principal designer Geoff Goodman has confirmed that this is something that can be fixed in an upcoming patch. “We can add this. Thanks for the suggestion”, he wrote in response.
Fingers crossed we get that update sooner rather than later, but how are you getting on with the recently redesigned D.Va? Do you think she’s finally competitively balanced, or does she need a little extra tuning? We’d love to hear what you think of her in the comments, so sign up and sound off below.
