Nook Miles is a currency in Animal Crossing New Horizons which you earn by completing activities and travelling to other islands. They can be used to pay for Getaway Packages and in-game rewards at the Nook Stop Terminal. This guide will help you earn them fast.
Tom Nook’s got another wily scheme for us to invest in, but this one, this one might actually be quite good? The Nook Mileage Program works similarly to air miles in real life and will reward you when travelling to other islands or participating in activities. Essentially, not matter what you’re doing, you’ll likely work towards earning Nook Miles.
You can cash these Nook Miles to offset the cost of pricey Getaway Packages, or exchange them at the Nook Stop Terminal for unique Nook Inc merchandise like clothes and other helpful bits and bobs.
But how do you earn them fast? Well we’ve broken down some ways to help you get hold of plentiful Nook Miles in the fastest way possible.
How to get Nook Miles fast in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
To get Nook Miles fast in Animal Crossing, you need to complete activities like fishing, bug catching, crafting items, and more.
The game hasn’t been out for long, but we’ve put together a few pointers to help you rack up Nook Miles the moment Tom gives you a NookPhone.
Get a routine going
While this may seem pretty self explanatory, but to earn Nook Miles fast, you’ll want to target a specific activity as much as possible. If you’ve got a fishing challenge, pour as much time into fishing as you can. Again, if you’ve been set a bug catching challenge, you know what to do – go around with a net and catch as many as you can.
Of course, there’s only a limited supply of certain creatures or materials at any one time, meaning you’ll need to wait or explore other islands to continue your Nook Miles hunt. With this in mind, it’s worth getting together a daily routine for your activities. Perhaps spend 10 minutes (or more) in the morning fishing, then bug catching, before moving onto other things like crafting. Then repeat the process in the afternoon, and the evening if possible. This might seem like a slower way of doing things, but it’s surprisingly effective and means you won’t burn out too easily.

Visit friends
If you’ve got family members or friends who play Animal Crossing: New Horizons and, most importantly, don’t mind you harvesting loads of items – this is perfect. Squad up, harvest loads of stuff, head to the recycling box and take it all back to your island. What’s more, you’ll have made some lovely progress to your Nook Miles rewards as well.
Check the Nook Stop terminal
In Resident Services there’s a small Nook Stop terminal which you should visit at the start of each day. It will reward you increasingly greater Nook Miles bonuses if you visit each day, for an entire week.
- Day 1 – 50 Nook Miles
- Day 2 – 80 Nook Miles
- Day 3 – 100 Nook Miles
- Day 4 – 150 Nook Miles
- Day 5 – 200 Nook Miles
- Day 6 – 250 Nook Miles
- Day 7 and from here on – 300 Nook Miles
Pay attention to Nook Miles+
Once you’ve paid off your vacation fee for 5,000 Nook Miles and moved into a House instead of a Tent, you’ll unlock Nook Miles+. These are effectively daily challenges which will reward you with bonus Nook Miles for smaller tasks like planting flowers, catching fish, selling items in the store, among many other things.
When you complete a challenge it will immediately be replaced by another one, so there’s no limit to the amount you can complete per day.
The first five Nook Miles+ challenges of the day are the most lucrative as they have x2 multipliers, so prioritise these as you go about your business.
Sometimes you’ll be treated to a 5x multiplier challenge, so definitely aim to complete this if it pops up – it won’t happen often!
