Our Destiny 2: Scour the Rust, Iron Banner Quest guide explains how to complete all the quest steps to earn the Iron Banner armour sets.
Iron Banner is back in Destiny 2, and it’s due to run for a week ending on November 12th. This means Lord Saladin’s back with some juicy armour and weapon rewards for those who relish PVP combat and prove themselves in the Iron Banner Control playlist.
However, this time there’s a big change to how you’ll earn Iron Banner rewards. Instead of handing in your Iron Banner tokens and cracking open Engrams in the hopes you’ll eventually earn each armour piece, you’ll first need to complete the Scour the Rust quest.
This quest is picked up from Lord Saladin on the Tower, and he’ll also offer a number of bounties to go with it. As you play matches, you’ll earn Iron Banner Tokens and progress these bounties, but you can’t hand in tokens for rewards until you complete the Scour the Rust quest steps.
With this limitation, the only Iron Banner rewards you’ll receive will stem from random drops after playing matches.
It’s also worth noting that Scour the Rust isn’t account wide, meaning you need to finish it on all of your characters if you want to get every armour set.

Many of these quest steps aren’t actually too tough. It’s more of a grind than anything, which’ll require plenty of matches and the use of specific weapons.

- Defeat 30 opponents
- Capture 10 zones
- Get 3 Super final blows
Reward: Claws of the Wolf Pulse Rifle
– Intent –
- Complete 6 matches
- Capture 20 zones
- Get 25 pulse rifle final blows
Reward: Wizened Rebuke Fusion Rifle
– Timing –
- Get 20 fusion rifle final blows
- Capture 30 zones
- Defeat 100 opponents
Reward: The Hero’s Burden SMG
– Execution –
- Get 15 SMG final blows
- Get 15 Super final blows
- Capture 40 zones
Reward: Iron Banner Chest armour
– Conviction –
- Capture 50 zones
- Complete 15 matches
- Get 10 Super final blows (auto-completed due to bug!)
Reward: Access to Enhanced Armour Mods and Iron Banner Reward Packages!
