According to Bungie’s development roadmap, Destiny 2’s third season is likely to launch sometime in May this year and with it will come a whole bunch of changes.
As opposed to the original Destiny, Destiny 2 is split into different seasons worth of content which makes following the game’s changes much easier and sets it up for large patches when transitioning into a fresh season.
Seasonal update range from minor bug fixes and helpful UI updates, to brand new game modes and exciting new systems to master. It’s safe to say that Bungie has received some stick in regards to the state of Destiny 2 in the past few months and it’s development roadmap is a positive sign. From the looks of things, we’re in for some solid changes moving into Season 3 and beyond, but what’s most important here is that these are tweaks the community has been asking for above else.

Season 3 Release Date
Currently Bungie haven’t given us a clear release time or day, but we know that Season 3 is going live May 2018.
Of course, you won’t have to wait that long for a major content update. Bungie are still planning on releasing a slew of changes on 27th February and March 2018 in the run up to Season 3.

What Season 3 changes are we excited for?
Seasonal Crucible Rankings
This one’s been a long time coming, but we can’t wait for a proper ranking system to hit Destiny 2’s competitive PVP modes. It’s a chance for players to prove their skill and show off their ranking to other Guardians.
The promise of shiny badges and icons to signify your skill level is what the competitive matchmaking playlist needs. Finally, a real incentive for players to grind out games in the Crucible!
Vault Space Increase
Destiny 2’s a collecting game, but there simply isn’t enough space to store all the gear you’ve acquired. Finally we’ll all be able to keep every last piece of juicy loot we can’t bear to part with.
Seasonal Vendor Progression
At the moment vendors in Destiny 2 become irrelevant once you’ve hit max-level and collected all they have to offer, which really isn’t that much. We’re looking forward to proper reputation ranks and hopefully a heap of powerful and unique loot that’ll have us grinding for hours on end.
Faction Rallies Improvements
We don’t have much information to go on, and we don’t know what’s planned here – but we’re happy. Earning Faction Rally tokens for generic activities you’d already be doing anyway isn’t exactly that enjoyable, so lets hope we get some unique incentives with this update.
Mods System Improvements
Perhaps the change with the most potential. The Mod system is pretty thin at the moment, but a complete rework with crazy, unique and customisable upgrades will positively impact the entire game.
There are so many possibilities with the overhauled Mod system, we just hope Bungie pull it off.
