Following Fortnite’s immensely successful World Cup Finals which showcased the mind-boggling building skills of teenagers now set for life (not envious at all), it begs the question, what’s next for the Competitive scene?
Well, Epic Games has created the Fortnite Champion Series. It’s effectively Fortnite’s new competitive league which will feature weekly matches between the best players in the world.
Below we’ll take you through everything we know so far about Season 10’s Fortnite Champion Series, including when it starts, what the featured format is and when the finals are. We’ll also update this page as soon as the action gets underway.

What is the Fortnite Champion Series?
It’s an in-game tournament series which features a persistent leaderboard where players can track their progress towards becoming the Season 10 champion on each of the server regions.
The mode for the very first Fortnite Champion Series will be Trios, and each week teams will battle for a slice of the dedicated prize pool, as well as a chance to qualify for the finals.
The top teams in each server region will then face off in the Champion Series Finals where the regional Season 10 champions will be crowned.
When does the Fortnite Champion Series begin?
The action kicks off on 17th August 2019 and will continue for five weeks, where the competition will culminate on September 20, 21 and 22 in the Season 10 finals.
Here’s a quick breakdown of the dates:
- Week 1: 17 -18th August 2019.
- Week 2: 24 – 25th August 2019
- Week 3: 31st August – 1st September 2019
- Week 4: 7 – 8th September 2019
- Week 5: 14 -15th September 2019
- FINALS: 20th, 21st, 22nd September 2019
What’s on the line?
Epic Games is being pretty vague on this front, having only really stated that the prize pool “adds up to millions of dollars in prizes”. Going by the outrageous World Cup Finals prize pool, we image the Champion Series won’t be short on money to give away.

What is Fortnite Spotlight?
Epic Games has also promised a series of tournaments which will shine a spotlight on events organised by the Fortnite community. Again, this is pretty vague and we don’t know a great deal – if anything at all, really.
We’d hazard a guess at this being Epic’s reaction to Fortnite Creative’s success at the World Cup Finals. It probably realises there’s a big opportunity to be had from competition in the creative space which can get plenty of other players involved, not just the pros.
