Necropolis guide – tips, tactics and strategy advice – Overwatch
Our ongoing guide to the new map that's just hit Overwatch
Our Necropolis guide contains all of the tips, tricks, tactics and strategy advice you need to know in order to master this map.
Happy Birthday Overwatch! The Overwatch Anniversary event has just gone live today, and as you’d expect there are loads of emotes, skins, voicelines and what have you to unlock between now and when the event closes on Monday 12th June.
Things are a little different with this latest event, however. To mark the momentous occasion of the game’s first birthday, Blizzard has also just added three new maps to the game. These are 1 v 1 and 3 v 3 arena maps – and so won’t be found in Quick or Competitive Play – but they should do a lot to spice up the Arcade area of the game.
As the event has only just gone live, the first edition of our guide to one of them – Necropolis – is a little barebones, but we will be adding extra content to it throughout this evening and into the coming days. We’d love to hear your own tips in the comments too, so we can include them – with credit – in the next update.

Necropolis Overview
Here’s the official description for the new map:
“Ana Amari has made Necropolis has personal hideout – and an impromptu field base where she can keen an eye on things.
“Head to Ana’s preferred vantage point at the top of the ruins, and use the high ground (and the element of surprise) against the enemy team. Or walk the stone corridors below, and take the fight to them directly – just watch out for pits!”
Necropolis tips, tricks and tactics
With a massive open gap in the middle and two tall pyramids facing one another, this map is a haven for snipers. There’s a lot of high ground to be taken advantage of here, so make sure you’re picking heroes with high mobility and those who thrive in long range engagements. Hanzo, Widowmaker, Genji and Ana are must-picks for this map.
