New skins and Junkenstein's Revenge expected to return next week.
With the arrival of the chillier season comes the first of Overwatch’s anticipated seasonal events for the closing quarter of 2017. The next recycled event is widely anticipated to be Halloween Tower, and it looks as though the start date has been leaked ahead of time.
The ever-vigilant detectives of Reddit have uncovered evidence that Halloween Terror will in fact begin on Tuesday 10th October 2017. The evidence comes in the form of a retail outlet’s promotional banner, accompanied by a date sheet for the start of the event. Last year’s version of the event began on 11th October 2017, and concluded three weeks later on November 1st.
What can we expect from Overwatch’s Halloween Terror 2017 event then? It seems like a safe bet that the special spookily-themed version of the Hollywood map will make a return, perhaps with another reskinned battleground to keep things fresh.
Other recent events that have returned from the past have also reintroduced the previous year’s skins, along with a host of new – more expensive – items to unlock. Typically, the previous year’s skins become available to purchase at a reduced cost, while the latest cosmetic items cost considerably more to buy with credits.
Most excitingly of all, we can almost certainly expect to see the return of the hugely popular Junkenstein’s Revenge. This was the first co-op horde mode released for Overwatch, and saw Ana, Hanzo, McCree and Soldier: 76 do battle against waves of enemies, punctuated with bosses based on the rest of the hero roster.
Perhaps this time around we’ll see a change in the team line-up, as many players found it to be the perfect training ground for gaining mastery with heroes they might otherwise have felt unable to use in competitive play?
