How to win more games with the latest Tempo Warrior deck list in Season 26.

Our Rush Warrior deck list guide features the best Scholomance Academy deck list for Season 77 of Hearthstone (August 2020). Our Rush Warrior guide also contains Mulligan advice, card combos and strategy tips.

Rush Warrior might be makeing a comeback in Scholomance Academy, thanks to a bunch of new toys the Warrior class has received. The most exciting one is Playmaker, which can give you a ludicrous amount of Rush value.

If the keyword has passed you by, Rush cards are able to attack other minions on the turn they’re put into play, but not the enemy hero. That provides the Rush Warrior player with a huge amount of initiative, particularly in the early game, but without creating the kind of balance issues that have been historically associated with Charge. Suffice to say you should have lots of answers to your opponent’s plays at each stage of the game.

In this latest update to our Rush Warrior guide, we’ve highlighted the best deck list for the archetype right now. We’ve also got detailed strategy advice and Mulligan tips after that, followed by a breakdown of all the big combos this deck contains. All aspects of this guide will be expanded upon further in the months ahead as well!

General strategy

Rush Warrior is a minion heavy deck that relies on high tempo plays to eke out small advantages over its opponents over the course of a game.

Early game: You’ll be looking to establish a board presence with your early game minions as soon as possible. Rusty Skipper can be a solid activator to Shield of Honor, and Corsair Cache draws your Ancharrr, giving your fancy Rush minions and Pirates a chance to get out of your deck. If you play a Bomb Wrangler with a Rusty Skipper on board, you’ll get a few Boom Bots.

Mid game: Your mid-cost minions are great for keeping control of the board, since a lot of them will have Rush and can attack immediately. Playmaker is a huge one here, as it doubles up your Rush value. For example, whacking out a Restless Mummy gives you a massive amount of on-board damage.

Late game: Once you have a board presence, you should be aiming to start going face, both with your minions and your weapons. Doctor Krastinov is great for buffing up your Ancharrr and Livewire Lance, and you can re-equip these weapons with Hoard Pillager.

Remember, your Lackeys generated by Livewire Lance could potentially seal things too.

Aggro opponents

These tips will give you an advantage over the aggro opponents you come up against:

  • 1. With your army of Rush minions you should be able to keep their side of the board clear without too much of an issue.
  • 2. The deck runs no area of effect spells, so you’ll only really be able to kill off enemies with Rush and your weapons.
  • 3. It’s wise to take more of a control approach early in the game. If you can starve them of resources then your big board presence should significantly overpower theirs.

Control opponents

Keep the following words of advice in mind when up against control decks:

  • 1. With no hard removal in the deck it’s tough for you to deal with single large minions. Sometimes it’s worth swinging in with multiple smaller minions to deal with the threat, or you may be better off trying to race the opponent down instead.
  • 2. That said, Restless Mummy is an excellent minion to use to trade up into stronger creatures, as she gains a bonus three attack the turn she enters the battlefield.
  • 3. Don’t over-commit to one board. Control enemies will have AOE effects to wipe all your minions out, and you’ll have to rebuild. Keep resources in hand to do this.
  • 4. Even if you’re falling behind, Rush minions can get you back into the game quicker than you might expect.

Rush Warrior Mulligan guide

With Rush Warrior you’re hunting for your efficient early game minions during the Mulligan stage.

  • 1. Ancharrr: Great card draw, solid weapon damage.
  • 2. Rusty Skipper: Activates self-damage synergies nicely early on, potentially giving you a cheap Bloodboil Brute.
  • 3. Athletic Studies: Gives you the chance to Discover a Rush minion of your choice to deal with the current board state or prepare for later.

Rush Warrior tips, combos and synergies

In order to extract all the value offered up by Rush Warrior, you need to be familiar with every combo that powers it. Here’s a complete breakdown of the biggest interactions that you need to be aware of when piloting this deck.

– If you’ve any Pirates left in your deck, Ancharrr will grab one of them and pop it into your hand.

– When Playmaker activates on Restless Mummy, he’ll still have Reborn. This means you get up to 12 damage of Rush if you kill both off and resurrect them.

Frothing Berserker gains one extra point of Attack each time a friendly minion takes damage. Cards like Blood Razor can be used to boost this character up neatly.

Armorsmith beefs up your Armor reserves when your minions are damaged, combining excellently with Risky Skipper and Bomb Wrangler.

Bloodsworn Mercenary can summon a copy of any damaged minion, and you can easily self-damage with Risky Skipper.

– In a pinch, Deathwing, Mad Aspect can act as a board clear.

Kor’kron Elite has Charge, so keep that in mind when calculating lethal.
