Destiny 2: Console pre-load dates announced
Pre-loading begins as early as next week.
Bungie has confirmed that Destiny 2 players on Playstation 4 can begin pre-loading the game on August 31st, 2017. Those on Xbox One will be able to pre-load the game even sooner, starting sometime early next week.
The news comes as part of Bungie’s official blog post, which outlines pre-load availability for console users and encourages players to follow @BungieHelp on Twitter for further announcements.
“Players who have digitally pre-ordered Destiny 2 will be able to pre-load the game starting next week. Xbox One pre-loading will begin early next week, while PlayStation 4 pre-loading will become available on August 31, 2017. Announcements of pre-load availability will be made through @BungieHelp on Twitter.”

Additionally, the blog post confirms that Destiny 2 will receive a Day One Update which will be released closer to the launch date.
“Destiny 2 will also receive a Day One Update, which will become available closer to the release of Destiny 2. For information concerning the installation of Destiny 2 to a console, please see the Installing and Updating Destiny Guide.”
These pre-load dates are rather generous, allowing us to get Destiny 2 ready to go far earlier than it’s release on September 6th – especially helpful for those of us with slow internet!
As Destiny 2’s PC launch is over a month later than that of consoles (October 24th, 2017) we imagine it’ll be a while until a pre-load date is confirmed. The PC open beta does begin soon however, and we’ve covered everything that it has to offer in detail.
If we also look back on the original Destiny’s Day One patch, it only weighed in at 296mb and fixed/tweaked a great deal of issues. Destiny 2’s a larger game in general, so it’ll be unsurprising if it’s Day One update is a little more substantial than this, but we can’t see it taking up too much space on our hard drives.
Destiny 2’s PC beta begins on 28th August for those who pre-ordered the game and the 29th of August for everyone else. It ends in all cases on the 31st of August 2017, which is around a couple of months before the PC launch on 24th October.
