Destiny 2: Prestige Raid and Iron Banner arriving next week

Emperor Calus levels up and Lord Saladin returns.

Both the Prestige Raid and Iron Banner Crucible event will be arriving in Destiny 2 next week.

Iron Banner launches on Tuesday 10th October 2017 at 02:00AM PT, so that’s 10:00AM BST and 05:00AM ET. The Prestige Raid unlocks later on the same day at 10AM PT, which translates to 18:00PM BST and 13:00PM ET.

The Prestige Raid is a more challenging version of the existing Leviathan Raid that sees players battling through Emperor Calus’s palace. Normal difficulty requires players to reach Power Level 270 as a minimum, and you’ll have to reach a new milestone of Power Level 300 if you want to take on the Prestige version.

There’s very limited information on how exactly the Prestige Raid will differ in difficulty to its normal equivalent, but Bungie does say that there will be minor mechanical changes to certain stages.

”We do not expect everyone to be successful in completing this activity. Mechanical changes to the encounters are minimal, but they are there. The Prestige Raid is about mastering a more punishing sandbox. Our goal is not to provide a boon to your character progression, but there are unique rewards to help you shine. Consider this your invitation to prove to the world that you are among the very best of the Raiders who overlook the City.”

We suspect the new Prestige Raid will feature tougher enemies and small changes to the puzzling systems already present in the Leviathan. Perhaps it’ll challenge players to rethink how they figured something out before? For example, we can see the War Beasts in the Pleasure Gardens roaming in different patterns to throw Guardians off. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see.

If you’re after a comprehensive walkthrough of the Raid, do make sure to check out our Leviathan Raid guide. We’ve also put together a complete guide to the gorgeous loot you’ll have a chance of earning from the Prestige Raid in our Leviathan Raid loot and Prestige gear article.

We’ve also got Lord Saladin returning on the same day to lay down the Iron Banner. For those unfamiliar with the Iron Banner, it’s a limited time event that encourages players to fight it out in the Crucible for the chance to receive unique gear rewards.

In the original Destiny, Iron Banner enabled Light Level advantages. This meant that players with higher Light Levels could dish out more damage and absorb an increased amount too. This isn’t the case in Destiny 2 though and it’s now open to every Guardian who’s completed the campaign, making it far more accessible.

Once you’ve beaten the campaign, all you need to do is talk to Lord Saladin and accept his Iron Banner Quest to get involved. There’s dedicated matchmaking to make finding games easy, and it pits two teams of four players against each other in the Control game mode.

Playing matches in the Iron Banner earns you Iron Banner Tokens which you can cash in with Lord Saladin to earn special Engrams. Cracking them open will give you the chance to receive unique pieces of armour, so you can begin working towards collecting the entire set. Iron Banner-specific weapons and shaders haven’t been confirmed as of yet.
