What to expect from Fortnite's new Events in-game tournament system

Our Fortnite Events guide contains a schedule list of in-game tournaments, and will be updated continuously as new tournaments are added to the game.

With the release of Patch V6.10, Fortnite’s gained an in-game tournament system for the very first time. Called Events, the new competitive mode will allow players to get stuck into tournaments alongside the game’s very best players.

This is just the first iteration of the game’s tournament system, and Epic intends to make many changes and improvements to Events as time goes on.

In our Events guide, we’ve pulled together all of the information that’s been confirmed by Epic, so you can play for your next tournament-topping performance.

We’ve also added the latest schedule to this guide as well. We’ll be updating it each week so you can first of all see what’s happening in the game right now, but also look further ahead to what’s coming up down the road.

Events Overview

Here’s the lowdown on how this initial version of Fortnite’s Event tournament system works. Have a read through and you’ll be well prepped to get stuck into the competition.

  • Events are Fortnite’s home for all in-game tournaments and competition, allowing anyone to participate in top tier Fortnite play.
  • When you log into the game after the application of Patch 6.10, you’ll be able to see an Events tab which contains scheduled tournament sessions.
  • After you select a tournament you’ll see when the session is set to begin so you can warm up or talk strategy with your teammates before jumping in.
  • All players must opt-in for cross-play to participate in competitive events. You can’t just play against people on your individual platform.
  • When a session begins you’ll want to make each match count. You can earn points for placing exceptionally well or by securing multiple eliminations in a match.
  • The better you do, the tougher the opponent’s will be in your next match, as players are matched together based on points achieved previously in the tournament.
  • Each time you enter you enter a new competition though, it’s a brand new clean slate. You and every other player diving in starts off on a completely equal footing.
  • Fortnite’s Event feature will be expanded upon with prizes in future iterations of the in-game tournament system. This is just the first version of the tournament system, and it will be updated over time.
