All Dota references will be removed for the upcoming iOS and Android versions.
Drodo Studio has announced a brand new mobile version of its hugely popular Auto Chess mod for Dota 2.
However, it’s losing any affiliation with Dota for the game’s new platforms and will simply be known as “Auto Chess”. The new clients will be developed by Drodo Studio, alongside Chinese mobile games publisher Dragonest.
Those who want to get their hands on the game as soon as it launches can reserve a spot on Android or iOS via the official site, although from the looks of things this option is currently only available in China.

Auto Chess will feature all of the same mechanics as its Dota equivalent on PC. As it’s not linked to Valve’s universe anymore, however, its roster will be made up entirely of new heroes and couriers. Candy will still be the in-game currency used to purchase cosmetic items.
Drodo Studio also plans to launch the game with a bang. It’s entering the competitive scene right off the bat with a 10,000,000 Chinese Yuan – equivalent to approximately $1,500,000 – league organised by ImbaTV, a Chinese event company best known for co-organising and rebroadcasting some of Dota 2’s biggest tournaments.
As stressed in Drodo Studio’s announcement, it’s by no means abandoning the Dota Auto Chess mod which made all of this possible. It’s going to continue working on Dota’s version after “Auto Chess” has launched, and will likely bring its mobile version over to the West soon too.
