Call of Duty WW2’s Team Deathmatch mode does away with multiple objectives and intricacies. Instead, it’s a back to basics experience that focuses on which team can get the most eliminations and race to 75 kills first.
As it’s a 12 vs 12 affair, things can get quite hectic and despite its simplicity, we found it to be quite a difficult mode to perform well in. You have to gain a good understanding of each map, the weapons you’re using and develop a wicked aim that seeks out those all important headshots.

How does Team Deathmatch Work?
Basic Outline
- Two teams of 12 players.
- The goal is to reach 75 kills before the opposing team.
- If you get a kill, that’s one point for your team.
- Get killed, and that’s one point to the enemy.
Strategies
- Try and avoid running down long pathways or corridors which look and feel as if they’re unsafe – it probably is. Unless you’ve got a sniper rifle, we advise finding another route to the enemy.
- We recommend starting off with the Infantry class in team deathmatch as it’s a good all rounder. Begin branching out to the other divisions as you gain more confidence.
- Always pay close attention to your radar as it’s a vital source of information. Of course, avoid looking at it constantly, but develop a habit of glancing at it to see if enemies are nearby.
- We’ve found that the best way to bag yourself a bunch of kills is to find a flanking route around the enemy, rather than facing them head on. This way you’re more likely to catch multiple players off guard.
- Value your own life over taking someone else’s. Building a steady lead over the enemy is key to victory.
- If you’re dying constantly, take a breather and approach each situation with a more measured approach.
- Try and choose a weapon that’s appropriate to the map. If you’re fighting a team on a vast open expanse, a bolt action rifle will do the job nicely. Otherwise, a submachine gun or shotgun will do wonders in maps with a lot of tightknit spaces.
- It’s always worth aiming for the head when you’re engaged in a gunfight. You’ll do far more damage and reduce the time to kill tremendously.
- Don’t be afraid to swiftly pre-aim when you’re rounding corners if you think an enemy might be lurking nearby. This way you’ll be one step ahead if someone does spring out of nowhere.
- If you’ve spotted an enemy camping in a corner or small room of a building, try cooking a grenade and chucking it in their direction. Just hold the grenade button for 2-3 seconds before releasing it, and it should explode as soon as it hits the floor – they won’t escape.
- This one’s a little tricky, but try and keep an eye on the enemy spawn points. Sometimes it’ll suddenly flip and this will usually happen if your team starts getting a string of kills on the board.
