New goals will award unique emblems and guaranteed raid drops on release.
Optional challenges will be added to Destiny 2’s Leviathan raid starting October 31st. The extra goals will be rotated on a weekly basis.
Bungie confirmed the news in their weekly update post, but remained tight lipped on what exactly these weekly raid challenges might look like.
The only official details we’ve been given about these challenges so far involve the rewards on offer, and how you’ll be able to find out exactly what’s in store each week.
Players taking on the Leviathan Raid will be able to check their in-game Director to see the details, and an in-game notification will pop up if players fail to complete the objective.
Those who manage to beat the weekly challenge will be rewarded with a unique emblem and a guaranteed raid drop for that encounter.
Here’s an image of each emblem you’ll earn for completing a weekly challenge.

We can at least deduce from the icons on these emblems that the weekly challenges will cover each encounter in the Leviathan Raid. Starting from the top and working our way down we’ve got Royal Baths, Pleasure Gardens, The Gauntlet and Emperor Calus.
Going by the daily challenges that already exist in Destiny 2, it’s likely that these optional raid challenges will follow a similar format. Perhaps you’ll have to complete the encounter in a certain time limit, or defeat a specific number of enemies. We’ll have to wait and see for now.
