Details of Hearthstone’s Wild Open 2019 Finals revealed
Final showdown to be streamed later on this month.
Hearthstone’s Wild format allows players to make use of every single card released throughout the game’s history, and is thoroughly deserving of its name as a result. Think of all those overpowered cards from years gone by, then imagine them all being up for grabs in a single deck.
Although not as popular as the Standard mode – where card set restrictions apply – there’s still a thriving competitive scene, including the officially sanctioned Wild Open that’s curated by Blizzard itself.
In a recent blog post, Blizzard has confirmed a few details about how the Wild Open Finals will work in 2019, including stream details and dates.
Competitors are spread across the EU, Americas and Asia-Pacific regions. A complete list of participants can be found in the official announcement.
As for the date of the finals, they’ll be taking place on Saturday, 23rd February 2019, with a full stream of the event. You can watch it over on Twitch, or watch via the embed we’ve dropped right here:
The finals format will involve a best-of-five single elimination Conquest bracket. Players will need to bring four decks, and will be able to ban one of their opponent’s decks in each match-up.
There’s a $30,000 prize pot for the finals as well, broken down as follows:
- 1st Place: $11,000
- 2nd Place: $7,000
- 3rd-4th Place: $3,000
- 5th-8th Place: $1,500
The Wild format hasn’t been quite as well-supported as many were hoping for when it was introduced alongside Standard in April 2016. Its popularity has started to increase this year, however, and it’ll be well worth checking out the strongest creations that see play in these final matches.
